Congrats OP. It's a beauty.

Since it is an investment (not debatable it is worth more than you paid) I wouldn't discourage using 5% borrowed money to pay it down until you sell another piece.

Congrats! With the additional information that you're leaving Japan anyways, makes sense. I'd consider just waiting till the 2 year mark if you can hold out. Sell the YM in the meantime and keep the option open. You never know whether you'll end up in Japan again!

Congrats Pat! Looks amazing on you. Stunning piece. Getting “the call” on that piece is literally like winning the lottery. I’m glad you didn’t turn it down, even if it was a stretch at the moment. (With that on your wrist, and with an ROC & ROO in rotation, I predict your Roleys will soon start gathering dust!)

This is what I’m struggling with - and it may sound silly or irrelevant, but I also feel like I’d be letting down or disappointing my SA if I sold the ROO.

Thank you! They shouldn’t collect dust long given I’ll definitely sell one and quite possibly the other.

I think that's probably part of the reason she got allocations for you. I know some on this forum may not care, but the SA will look bad if a piece she sold gets sold soon after buying. I do think DSSD + YM is probably a better solution if you HAVE to, and then rebuying the DSSD later when you sell the ROO eventually.

I agree on all counts. I'd be embarrassed to quickly sell one of the watches after an SA made an actual effort to get the allocation for me. Others may think that's silly or plain stupid, but that's for them.

Late Friday I flew to Tokyo and Saturday I met my SA.
As many of you already knew, it was too hard to pass so I ended up purchasing the 15510 and I would have been in and out of the store in 15 minutes had it not been for a great conversation with my SA for the next 45 mins. In the end I had to leave so I could catch my flight back to Okinawa a few hours later.
As always, a great experience and while I certainly won’t be able to afford another one anytime soon I don’t mind.

My SA again thanked me for my transparency and while it was obviously my choice she recommended keeping the ROO for at least 2 years from purchase before selling - even then there’s never a guarantee.

I reached out to one more trusted seller to see what they would offer for my AP and 2 Rolexes.
I absolutely want to keep the DSSD but understand I could purchase another later on if I wanted, and that selling the ROO would limit future AP’s - even if it wouldn’t be anytime soon.
That said, since I’ll be moving it’s impossible to know if I’ll even become this lucky again… so who knows.

I think I will insure all 3 AP’s with Hodinkee/Chubb since I’ll be moving this summer anyway and let’s face it, I’m a Marine - we aren’t known for being dainty haha.

No thread is complete without pics. Not great quality but it’s a gloomy day here.

Well… belay that, I’m having issues with tapa..
Pics will have to wait, I can’t get tapa to take anything.
Congrats - almost missed the resolution to this dilemma! Good luck with the move!

I’ve been wearing the 15510 non stop since I bought it and I love it!
Prior to picking it up I wore the ROC and it quickly became my favorite watch. The dial just attracts the light in such an incredible way but much to my surprise, the blue dial has come out on top - at least for now.
The blue is striking in that it’s dark and can easily look black from afar but when the light hits it the dark blue really shines. The dial is also less busy than the ROC, which I guess I appreciate more than I thought I would.

Honestly it’s an amazing watch that doesn’t look as good in a boutique as it does outside because of the often suboptimal interior lights; for those of you on the fence - go see your AD!

We had a brief respite from the Okinawa heat but here it comes again with temps in the 70’s.

Looks great on the wrist, brother. Decisions like that one aren’t often easy, but ultimately you made the correct choice. Your current AP trio is a mean combo and worth more than you paid (if you were forced make a move down the road).
Congrats on the new addition - well played.

Thanks man. They are all awesome and my wife keeps catching me staring at it and laughing “yes babe, it’s very pretty” haha.

But you still have the ROO as well, correct? You have a trifecta with that included.

I do, yes. It’ll probably take a conscious effort to wear the ROO considering these two, but I realize I should probably keep my woes to myself given how lucky I’ve been.

Copy that. But the ROO is so different, and wears differently than either of these two. Regardless, your point is well taken.

Glad I could help twist your arm! It truly is a mesmerizing dial! It’s like having 6 different watches in one under different lighting conditions — from charcoal to deep blue — sometimes even teal.

That's a gorgeous blue. I'm glad they didn't blow it with a "matching" ceramic bezel.

I’m in Okinawa so would have to fly to Tokyo to pick it up, but right now I can’t afford it outright unless I offload some (26240 and an 116622 blue dial yachtmaster - which I was going to do at some point anyway).

Depending what I get for the others, I would definitely pocket some money as the 15510 is only 26K once I pay for plane tickets there (2.5 hours).

Thought? Am I crazy for debating whether I should? I absolutely love my ROC.
Should I email her and ask if there will be ramifications to selling my ROO after only 10ish months?

Thought?

You are only getting this call because you have been buying other watches. Keep it up and one day you can get an openworks or a ceramic. Say no and you won't be called again.

AP wants wealthy clients that can buy multiple watches a year. Either that's you or it's not.
