Rolex forum 2.0?

Anyone else think the platform could do with a bit of an update? More user friendly, a step further from impossible to load photos would be nice etc etc etc?

Love the place but it has a very prehistoric feeling

Will that come with all the nonsense ads and banners of products that I don't want?

I'd rather just keep this and a simple platform. Plus its rolex, its history mate. enjoy :)

I think the best update they could do is when you get a reply from someone regarding a comment you made it would be helpful if there was a marker against your username indicating someone has replied. This feature is used in the football forum I frequent.

Saves you having to scroll through several threads to see if anyone has asked a question of one of your comments.

Right? I go on Watchuseek, sometimes, and the constant flashing and changing of the banner ads is so annoying.

Now this is exactly what I love about this forum

Clean and simple.

No need for fancy upgrades imho.

…considering the forum is free for the majority of members, I have to say it’s well run by Steve and his team of moderators.

If you use the Tapatalk App you can set notifications for this. I think it helps with forum engagement for sure

Agreed on this ^^^

One of the things I can’t stand about other forums are the constant /bloated banner ads

This forum is outstanding in that regard

I’d happily pay more if we could figure out a better way to weed out the scammers, bots and previously banned members creating new names.

Beyond that I have no complaints. I do use Tapatalk though because it makes mobile viewing much more user friendly.

It's a watch forum. It does everything it's supposed to do. I wouldn't change it.

Also, I develop software for a living. I just know that many upgrades aren't worth the time and effort from a user experience point of view. I'm going to pick on weather.com. Since the 90s, they have spent tens of millions of dollars updating that website (perhaps hundreds and hundreds of millions). I can tell you for sure, that Weather.com circa 1998 was better in every way than the Weather.com of today.

Back then, it was very simple. Enter a zip code, and it gave you the weather forecast for the next 10 days, plus it had radar. That's everything you need. That's all it was.

Weather.com of today is a mess. Go check it out. It's a disaster. http://weather.com It's actually slower today too even with broadband. LOL!

Now upgrading the underlying technology is different and justified. I am just speaking in terms of user experience.

I’ll agree with you on the search function, it’s cumbersome.

I find when I want to locate a thread or search something I’ll use google search with “Rolex Forums” to find it. It actually works well and is quicker than using the search /advanced function here

She's an old system, yet works. Would love a 'like/emoji' button to keep threads more additional content-based. Could add a few more boards too.

A like button would be cool. Would cutdown on my post count by not commenting "this" on posts I like though...

I did read a comment here from someone about Tapatalk (it was just a comment so I don’t know how much substance is to it) that Tapatalk requires a lot of personal information from your phone to be able to log into numerous websites etc etc. I do use it to upload photos though, although it seldom works itself but adding a photo on this forum without it really is rocket science for me!

I would only improve how to post a photo. Check watchforum.com you can post a photo direct from your phone photos with no resizing (and there are no banners or adverts)
