Both are lovely. To be honest I’m partial to the white text.

OP, congrats on a fantastic 1680!

The white, second iteration of the Submariner Date is a true classic, one of the best references.

Mine is recent, but oh so nice,

Problem is not what you're missing is what the OP has...

Case is, er... funny.

Not an expert, but the backside looks a bit odd to me. The graininess of the steel and the strange angle of the crown guard opening. My own -78 1680 is at my bank, I'm just comparing it to Filipćos now.

I am not calling it anything here, this was just an observation.

Well, you are correct. But there is more and it's funny the OP doesn't provide pictures from the engravings.

I'm glad I've shown mine in detail.

Just to fuel this thread, my white 1680 is a MK2 serial #5.836.XXX.

Below its engravings, though a bit dirty.

Reposting one pic from my case - top of crown guards.

No worries

Took those close up photos under poor lighting reflects condition.

Here’s some couple of photo.

Watch still maintains it’s original twin lock crown.

I see some of the scratches on both, it's fascinating that the first pictures looked so different.

The curvature on the plexi is probably an illusion caused by the fish-eye effect and the larger bevel on the more modern crystals.
