Anyone else find the Speedy Pro difficult to wind?

The crown does not stick out very much. And the crown action is stiff. Is it just mine or all? I’ve had the watch a long time (about 10 years), have not had it serviced. It runs fine and I enjoy it.

A lot of people say it's hard to wind but I've never had trouble winding mine. Still, I don't have huge fingers. The winding action is pretty smooth but it's not like a Lange. I've had mine for over a decade and it's never been serviced but still keeps excellent time.

Me too, exactly the same. In fact in the winter when my hands are dry it tends to shred the skin on my thumb. I don’t care, I f’n love it!

I enjoy winding mine, it’s old school and I appreciate that. It is not the easiest but it different than all the other mechanical watches I have owned.

Yep, just plain annoying. An awesome watch in all other respects. Sold it a couple years ago.

No, the trick is to put your thumb on top, and the pointer finger, flat under the crown. Dont use the sides of your fingers-no grip.

Putting aside the grip for a moment, it may just be time to service it. Mine winds very smoothly. I've got fat fingers, but can manage.

This, thumb on the crystal and bezel, side of the index finger rolling the crown. I do this to set the time too. Winds up pretty efficiently this way.

Yes, I was getting annoyed with winding mine just yesterday. I was wondering if there's something wrong with mine. I guess not. I think by design either the crown is too small or it's too recessed into the case.

The method helps.

Using your index finger in an upward motion behind the crown is easier than winding with a pinched index finger and thumb.

It is the only downside. Love mine otherwise. It demands attention. I had a go at winding the Apollo 8 recently. It was very easy, maybe due to the higher finish of the movement. The crown is still sunken into the case.

I sold my Speedy Tuesday for that reason. Loved it but painful!

I’ve always found the 1861 really easy over about 6 of them. esp the straight lugs ones with no crown guards.

Try the 3861 if you want a finger shredder. Really tight for first couple of months.

Mine starts out really smooth and then near the end because of the tension it becomes bit more difficult.

Didn't love winding it everyday for that reason. Sold it and bought something else.

Still love the look and the history of the watch though. Might circle back at some point.

I recently got this beauty and know what all the complaints are about. But, I have a simple warming up exercise. I wind up my Pam233 which takes about 3 hours first to strengthen my fingers!!

I don’t like winding my Speedy. Feels like a chore.

In contrast, winding my De Ville Tresor is a breeze & the process makes me feel like a proud owner of the watch taking care of it.

You would think a manual wind watch would not make it such a pain in the ass to wind. My Tudor is an absolute pleasure to wind, the Moonwatch is another story

It’s a pain... nothing to do about it.

The FOIS is better without the crown guards.

How often does the speedmaster need winding?
