Penmanship Samples

I was thinking about starting a thread in which we could share our penmanship with each other. Would the members be up for that and share their writing samples?

I think it would be cool to see everyone's styles.

I think it is a great idea Scarhead. My penmanship is a work in progress but I know I have seen several members with great handwriting. This was written with my 1943 Parker Vacumatic with Noodlers ink.

I know I said I would continue this thread by posting a writing sample, but I've run into a bit of a problem. My brother and I have temporarily switched computers and I can't upload photos on his for some reason. I keep getting an error message that reads "Camera not found," so I can't post photos of my writing. Can't we just go back to pen and paper and be done with computers

I'll have the MacBook back tomorrow so I'll get it done then.

I'd like to share a pic of my "penmanship" with you, but it would probably make you recoil in terror. I have the worst I've ever seen. My mother still chides me that should have become a doctor with the way I write. I'm the antithesis of a typical FP connessiour, but while the fp hasn't helped my writing, it's taken a great strain of my wrist....

That is not so bad Chris. I had printed for about the last 15 years or so and I am now retraining myself to write in cursive. I think fountain pens just have a natural flow for cursive writing. I see you got the Mark Twain. Did I miss the review thread and pics?

I didn't write a review simply because I haven't ever owned a fountain pen before so I didn't have a constant to compare it to. I did post a striptease, I'll drop the link when I get home to my computer. I wrote it about six weeks ago...

I have not added a sample of my writing using a fountain pen because my Rheumatoid Arthritis has caused my right wrist and thumb to be permanently dislocated. Because of this it is hard to write many days and when I do hold a pen it's at a right angle(90 degrees) to the lined paper.....sorry. I'll just enjoy looking at all of your samples!!!

Chris, thank you for your thoughts but my wrist will probably not get better. I'm looking at either bone fusion or wrist replacement!!!

But I do really like your Mark Twain fountain pen...are you still enjoying your writing experience???

I'm sorry to hear it. Regardless of the route your MD and you choose to take, I hope it gets better.

I can relate to a degree as I've broken my left wrist several times. Nowadays it can ache depending on the weather. Sometimes it aches at the gym. It always aches when I write.I rarely write anything anymore beyond signing and dating docs, writing a check, or taking notes and lists for my personal use. Therefore the Mark Twain never leaves my office (I work from home).

My first time in this subforum I asked for advice for my first pen as I needed something more dignified than a white bic. I got a black mystery ball point with is now my travel pen. It permanently resides in the pen loop in my briefcase. I love it but it still makes my wrist ache.

Then out of curiosity, I bought the MT. I hadn't touched a fp since primary school and didn't know what to expect. I haven't looked back since the lack of pressure required to use the pen makes writing much easier on the wrist. Since I don't have to press, I also dont grip the pen as tight which further relieves my wrist. It's amazing!

Sometimes I sit at my desk staring at the pen like I stare at my watch. I look at it capped on my desk, I look at it uncapped in my hand. I'm just as OCD about wiping off smudges like the ones on the pcl on my gmt. I absolutely love it Leo! The midnight blue ink I used is very complimentary to the theme of the pen. In the future I'd like to add a classic meisterstuck which I want to fill with black ink...

Sorry for the digression, in short I'm completely bitten with the pen bug as well...

Had a funny thing happen today related to penmanship. I was at an emergency room dropping off papers for someone who was involved in a traffic crash. The patient was with staff, so rather than interrupt I wrote instructions on how to fill out the paperwork. When I walked over to the nurses station a young GQ-type (I actually hate using that phrase, but it fits perfectly here) doctor was surrounded by nurses and a few doctors. He was the 80s-style LA cool-dude and all he needed was a pair of Ray Ban Wayfarers and a turned up collar on a pink Izod to make the package complete. Rather than interrupting him while he spoke (I think he was talking about his red convertible 911 or something ) I waited until I got the attention of one of his onlookers. An attractive nurse turns and asks if she could help me. I hand her the notes and then, "Oh my God you have nice handwriting," she says loudly enough for everyone to hear and then holds it up for the others to see. Just then, the crowd of four or five people, including the doctor, look over. Some walked over to get a better look, but all took their attention away from the doc. This left him with a "bursted bubble" look on his face. Scarhead = 1 Doctor = 0. Knowing that he probably does have a red convertible 911 that doubles as a mobile exam unit: Scarhead = 1 Doctor = 2

Written with both my new MB 'Thomas Mann' (pix in another thread) and my 'Classique'- both rollerballs. Apologies in advance for any retinal scaring this might cause.
