Not my GMT TTc.
No half hour stop on that one. But my Seiko Astron does the job.

Always set to GMT time. This way I know the world reference is at, and can recalculate any other world time at any given moment by rotating the bezel.

I set my second time zone hand for Turkiye and hour hand for Western Canada, B.C. Thus I don't wake up my relatives in Eastern Europe mistakenly.

24 hour hand is GMT (with bezel at 12) for me and I spin the bezel for other world times.
I have the watch on home time.

UTC/Zulu time. It is the worldwide reference for all communications to international audiences, such as news reports. It isn't subject to daylight savings or any other nonsense.
Zulu time is the way to go whether you know anybody in UTC+0 or not. |

I set mine to GMT. The hour & minute hand is always set to wherever I happen to be at the moment. Since I frequently have to deal with multiple time zones by phone, just remembering the "GMT offset" for various places makes it easy for me to know what time it is at various locations by just rotating the bezel.
I guess if I primarily just traveled from home to another time zone then back again (vacations?), I would probably set the 24 hr hand to "home time" and set the hour & minute hands to wherever I happened to be. That's a great way to use an Explorer II (since the bezel doesn't rotate). |

You're in for a surprise then when they are at BST half of the year...
Remember, you actually change the time zone when you go to/from daylight savings time, so London will be in WET(GMT, UTC) in the winter and in WEST(BST, CET) in the summer. Of course, the central parts of Europe will go from CET to CEST in the summer. The timezone abbreviations are only aliases for UTC+/- some time. UTC+1 is called CET in Berlin and BST in London. Oh, regarding the half hour time zones, Katmandu has a 45 minute offset from nearest hour, that is even harder to dial in on a modern GMT watch. If I ever get to rule a country I am going to have a 37 minute offset in the winter and a 13 minute offset in the summer just to annoy people, eh, I mean my underlings... |

One thing I did not see specified anywhere in this thread is what GMT watch everyone owns. If you have an older GMT Master then I am sure you set it to home time, because there is not an option to set the 24 hand to another time. However if you own a GMT II the whole advantage to me in this movement is the fact that I can set the GMT hand to Zulu time. As a pilot it is helpful to know Zulu time, and Zulu does not change for DST so you never have to reset the 24 hour hand.

12 hour is GMT time (I'm in the UK anyway),
GMT is same, Bezel is in its standard arrow at 12 position (as I still haven't got eh hang of a 3rd time zone). Got a GMT2C . This is my first full day of owning it :) |

^This^ exactly.
As I am in China and my friends and family are in the UK, this is ideal, except during BST (British Summer Time, like the DST). Then I cheat and do GMT +1 on the green hand.
