Help identifying vintage Rolex

Hi,

I finally got my mother to goto the safety deposit box to snap a pic of my grandfather's Rolex. Does anyone have any idea what model or reference this is? It was last serviced about 20 years ago? I would love to learn more about this piece.

Not sure about the reference. Will likely be between the lugs at 12:00. Might be a ref. 6284. Too bad the printing on the dial has been rubbed (or worn) off. Those bullseye dials are nice.
