Day Date 1803 caliber 1555 or 1556

I’m looking for an Day Date 1803 from 1962, I see different sellers where they offer an 1803 from 1962 with an caliber 1556 but when you look on the internet there is on different sites describe that caliber 1556 is used since 1965. Is it then possible that in an 1803 an caliber is the 1556?

I had the same question when I bought my WG 1803 from Jacek at HQ Milton, who is well respected in the community.

He sent me some literature indicating that the 1555 period was 1959 - 1967, and the 1556 period was 1965 - 1978.

It's possible that the part bearing the movement number has been swapped out for whatever reason, so it could be the right movement with the wrong movement number.

Ask the seller what the story is and research fully before buying. Good luck...

Maybe the seller isn´t aware that the movement was upgraded during the production cycle. Before purchase check the engraving on the automatic bridge and the frequency of the movement (1555=18.000/1556=19.800).

The link below offers some insight, too, and I think agrees with the info you received from Jacek. By serial number and correlation with the data in the link below, my own 1803 with a 1555 movement dates to 1962. I think there are more examples of 1803's out there with the 1556, however.
