Confusing Oyster Precision

Hello Gents, a friend received a Rolex oyster precision and asked me to help him check the legitimacy. He's not that watch savvy, and he received it from a friend of whom he loaned money to.

Anyways, the first and most revealing step was to take it to a shop and open up the back. It revealed a 6694 movement, but after more digging it was incompatible with the watch face as the 6694 came with a date function. The closest the face comes to looking alike is the 6426. However, the movement looks original, which leads me to believe it has been recased. I know that rolex briefly gold plated some of their older watches so that didnt throw me off too much. However, i did notice some interesting dials such as during this era the lume indicator prefix was usually T Swiss T, not T swiss made T, although there are some instances of this. Also, the dials are not common although I know there was also some variation in this during the time. Anyways, for me, this has become a full time investigation obsession! If anybody has any insight do share!

Please post a picture of the watch face too.

Also, have a look between the lugs, there should be a model number and serial number there.

The 6694 stamped in the case back means that it is a case back that fits a 6694. If it also fits the watch you have there, then fine, Rolex regularly did that back then.

A 6694 case-back should fit a 6426, they are both 34mm cases with manual wind movements.
