Citing a chart that places Hublot in the same league as AP as gospel... Could one get any more inflammatory in an AP board than that?

Tom,

It’s in the chart in black and white, I don’t know how much clearer we can be.

Hublot right up there in the HH class with Lange and Patek

I don't think I've ever seen Faberge or Boucheron mentioned on this forum before so that's something at least, the Jeweller's Association will be pleased they are infiltrating us. The Bagmen will also be pleased to be right there with Rolex and Omega too.

Bumps a one year old thread...

Pulls out a chart...

What’s next? Is the world flat? Or wait... the Mayans said the world would end in 2012?

Both are completely different watches other than they share a “blue” type of dial. Both works of art and worth having in the collection.

there is already a thread on that. Some guy was going to launch himself into the air on a homemade rocket to an altitude about half the height of the tallest building in the world to prove it, and to see for himself

He had a permit issue and had to cancel, so now the issue is still unresolved i guess.

Richard Mille classed as exceptional above AP and Patek? Not sure that’s accurate at all.

If you are interested in hear more about the ranking system and how it was created check out Bill’s video. Pretty interesting watch.

I was torn between both the 15202 and the CB. I got the CB. No regrets. Most accurate watch I own, and the dial and case back is mesmerizing. I do have a Royal Oak I purchased new (not the 15202) and it has been a disappointment. Several problems with the 3120 caliber which I know is the the same caliber as the 15202. However, I am not sure what is going on with AP quality control.

I always think small independents can't be ranked against the big names anyway as its too subjective. For example, some of those brands are virtually hand making watches but their movements are not particularly complex. How to you rank that? Craftsmanship and time or complex watchmaking? Its not the same thing.
Can't say I agree with the chart in total but for purposes of this thread I can say there is nothing simple about Joune's movements or timepieces.

I've had problems with my 15300 which has the 3120 caliber.

However, do note the 15202 does not have the 3120; it has the 2121 which was originally designed by JLC and used by AP, VC and also PP.

I’ve heard the 2121 can be a bit finicky as well. They’ve basically taken the 2120 movement and modernized it... tried to update it. It was always a finicky movement because of its incredible engineering and thinness (it is truly a JLC masterpiece and now a Audemars grail movement). It’s just expensive to service and is not super durable.

BTW, the CB has been known to have a little issue with mainspring twisting on the post when fully unwound so don’t jostle it around much when it’s wound down.

yeah i know, i was not referring to them i was referring to some of the others on the list rated fairly highly for craftsmanship and being hand made and not for technical and complicated watchmaking

Yes I know. I intended to say "does not have the same caliber". I should proof read before posting. The fingers don't always reflect what is in the mind.. Thanks for calling it out. I am a BIG fan of JLC, it is the brand that got me interested in horology.

WTF:

You're not serious right? That chart is supposed to be accepted as the standard in horology?

I found this old thread very interesting. I wonder if some people's conclusions or the general consensus has changed over time. (I have both watches and they're among my favorites.)

16202, and that's coming from a Journe fan. These 2 watches are not comparable...

As an only watch I'd go 15202 as I tend to get more wear out of bracelet watches.

Based on where I am though I'd go CB as it would add a lot more in terms of diversity and versatility to my small set of watches.
