When you are all over the place....

How do you decide?

I had a 16600, but sold it back in 2004 (HUGE mistake!!). My wife has green lighted me to come back to Rolex. Problem is, I can't make up my darn mind!

I currently have a Panerai 000, and I'm a fan of big watches since I'm a big guy. Thing is, I want something different. She's a fan of the Polar Explorer or Platinum Yachty. I kinda like to do things a bit differently and like the Milgauss (white or GV). Then there's a white dialed DJII (fluted or smooth). The DSSD keeps floating in and out of my decision....

Due to my budget, I'll be hitting the secondary market for this and I have a friend who is a pre-loved dealer. It's just a matter of making up my damn mind.

How did you guys and gals pick one to start? I like all of the ones I've listed above and have tried a lot of them on at an AD, but saying "this is it" is impossible!

Yeah, a bit of a rant but would love to hear how you all came to your decisions.

Well if it's one Rolex the. You have to aim for versatility. The 39mm Explorer 214270 is a natural choice. All dial, wears large, dress it up or down. A DJ2 with a black dial would be nice too. I find it's better to add a versatile piece first, then a sport piece.

When it is on your wrist and it sings to you, then it is right.

Sorry, not much help but that is what works for me

I seldom get to post the exact same thing just minutes apart...but this is one of those cases.

If you consider this watch will be just one of a dozen or more you'll acquire over the years, it may make the choice easier...

Just envision yourself on a windswept ridgeline, knee-deep in Springtime corn snow, and the sound of crunching ice underneath each footfall as you ascend one of the tallest peaks in the World - and you need to know what time it is...yep, that Explorer will be singing louder than the howling wind tearing at your parka's hood!

---did that help any???

Don't go by pictures, try them on. One or two will make you sick, you won't be able to stop thinking of them. That's the one you get.

You loved your SD, hated that you got rid of it right? That would answer my question right there.

Write one model down, then write the next one you like above or below it then keep inserting names. Soon you'll have a prioritized list of Rolexes you'll eventually want to buy.
