Rolex GMT Master II 16760 - questions
Hi,
I plan to purchase this watch... after my research on internet, I have found that normally I should have found an other dial than the one on the watch. Actually, I should have been a "SWISS T 25" and not a swiss made. It has been serviced, so I suppose that the dial has been changed. If yes, is it something worrying? the watch presented is a fat lady, 16760 from 1986 S/N starts with 9....as you can see... in addiiton, i attach also some pics on the caliber which is a 3085. Thank you for precious help and potential answers. Regards M. |

Simple answer its had a service replacement dial and now unfortunately lost a bit of its vintage commercial value. But if you intend to keep the watch and just wear it as every day wear then it will be a fine watch that will last many many years.

IMO, the dial is questionable on its originality based on the "SWISS MADE" font and the minute markers. Even the lume doesn't look right.

Compared your dial with mine. You should be able to spot the differences. This is the real deal which I've sold long ago.

Does RSC automatically replaces old parts? I saw an old 5513 a while ago had great patina on the dial except the hands were brand new. They told me RSC switched it out during service.

I think that yes.
I had the seller on phone - he said that dial is a genuine, one changed... do you think that the dial could be a fake one? |

The 5-minute markers seem thicker than those found on on Ngage as well as those seen on this page http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=76416

I'm gonna say at best the dial has been relumed as ecidenced by the overspray on several of the indices and the thicker indice markers.
I'd pass. |

Dial is not original. I own a 16760 and have both dials, the original and a replacement dial. I can vouch for the previous comments made by other forum members. Hour markers are off for sure. Hey, not a big deal...negotiate a lower price and get a period correct dial.

I was watching the threads as I've got a 16760 and love it. My advice would be to walk away from this one as it's clearly not right. It may be a bit cheaper but I think you'll regret it. |

No, it is simply not the original.. An original dial would be a tritium dial and the one shown is not, therefore, it has been replaced at some point in time.
