5513 serial number 2,6 mill.

I've just picked up this 5513 from 1970, It has a service dial and I'm wondering if I get a original dial will it greatly increase worth? Also does anyone have any idea when this service dial could be from?
thanks for your input.
Ralph

Of course the matte dial will increase value of watch. Your scan is so small I can't really see the white gold surrounds well. If the dial is marked with the t<25 it is earlier tritium dial used on the last 5513's and on to the Swiss marked ones with lumi. Check the site 5513matte shown at beginning of the Vintage section to see the year and type of dial used for your serial number.

It is a serviced dial with WG surrounding. The dial is a replacement by RSC during servicing and that, unfortunately, devalues your watch having lost its vintage appeal.

Your service dial could have been fitted anytime from around 1998 to now. I had one installed on my 5513 (a later model which originally had WG surrounds) last year.

Adam,

You had a damaged dial? How did that happen?

I picked this one up with the as is in the picture with the service dial.(It's very clean and works perfect) Now I'm looking at having a vintage age appropriate matte dial set in by RSC. I hoping this would increase it's value and of course aesthetic appeal.
p.s.
Thanks for all your great input.

I bought it cheap, with water-damaged dial but perfect case. In fact the damaged dial was already a service dial, so it's had three dials altogether. Looks almost like new now.

RSC will only give you the same type of dial you already have. Generally they don't do age-appropriate, only 'most recent' for any model.

You can see mine (first post) and many other 5513s of all ages in this thread: www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=338186

I was just in a RSC that said they would change it out for 200€ but if they found anything faulty inside they would be required to fix it apon aproval of course. I was thinking of replacing the dial and having it serviced at the same time.

They'll just install another service dial. I'd try to source an age-appropriate tritium dial (and presumably hands) for your watch to restore it to its vintage glory. It will be pricey but worth it. Good luck.

I was in a authorized RSC and they said if I came in with a legit matte dial that they would set it in (200€). So I'm now on the look out for a 1970 matte dial with matching hands, but with that said I think it is gorgeous as is...so no hurring on my part. I'll patiently wait for the right feet-first dial(being an american expat).
thanks again for all your input.

Awesome! Personally, I would not mind too as long as the price is right.

If you do go down the matte path, you would probably need to factor in a period correct insert too.
Maybe leave it the way it is.

Thanks for the tip, it looks like a expensive venture if I decide to try to bring it back to original..
