5513
Good evening ladies and gents,
It’s been a while, but an extraordinary thing happened to me today. So here’s the story: I was flying a 2 day trip with a really good dude...first thing I noticed when he sat down in the left seat was a really “patina’d” 5513 on his right wrist. I waited until day 2 of the trip to bring up “Hey man, that’s a sweet Sub, so what’s the story?” Long story short, it was given to him as a gift in 85 and continued to wear it because it continues to keep good time. It’s never been serviced or polished. I explained to him the value of his magnificent piece at FL280. He was shocked, he had no idea. So, here’s the question...we both live in the Dallas area and we fly together again next week. If I were to recommend someone to finally give this thing a service, who would it be? Cheers! |

Watchmakers International is local to you and often recommended by many in the forum: http://www.watchmakers.com/index.html

Should be late serial if matte dial or glossy 5513 since from year 1985. Both are my favorite and I hope I could see many beautiful 5513 in real life too. They are just pretty. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Couldn’t quite tell if it was matte or glossy, mineral...the crystal was mildly scratched. So the question is, should I recommend a new dome or keep as is? It’s a well worn watch with stretch. Perhaps just a service on the movement?

Why does it need a service if it’s keeping good time?

If you try to polish the plexi with polywatch and it works well for most cases unless you have deep scratches on the plexi. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I def recommend Bob Ridley had work done with him in the past with zero complaints! He does enough without degrading the heritage.
