Hi all,

Not sure it's the right topic, but I am now quite keen to purchase my first RM.
I am mostly interested in a classic model, i.e. RM35/55 or 30 in titanium / ceramic (also to stay within a reasonnable budget vs. other models).
I understand these are the hot models, so I wanted to understand how long does it take to get one from a RM boutique without any relationship?
Would it make sense to buy from a gray dealer if not available in boutique (risk of buying from gray, not building relationship with AD for future models, etc.)?

Thanks!

It is not easy to get the hot models from a boutique -- or even get on a waiting list. I am not sure about the difficulty of the 35/55 or 30 at this point but I have a bit of a relationship with a RM boutique and I was told they could not even get me on the list for an 11-03. I ended up with a RM 11-02 that I bought from a dealer but they are not getting stock and will likely disappear over time so my relationship may not be that helpful. The dealer told me to get pieces like the 11-02 he has to buy less sought after models. If you can get on a boutique list that is great but I think it is nuts to have have to buy 10-100s thousands of dollars of unwanted pieces just to get on future lists.

Hello everyone,

Just read through the entire thread over the course of a week. Lot's of fantastic pics & insight.

I think i've narrowed down my interests to a RM 35-02 (Red Quartz TPT).

I understand retail is 135k. My question is how difficult is it to purchase at retail from a RM boutique?

My friend, who is a pretty big watch seller on IG is asking 170k for this particular reference. 35k over list seems like a lot to pay.

Not in a rush to get it as I'm still relatively new to RM and have just begun to research the watches, however would be nice to get a 35-02 on my 35th birthday, about a year and a half away.

Thank you guys for all the great info and pics.

You need to be a repeat customer to get a 35 at retail, granted I'm pretty sure you could start with a 67-01 and see where that takes you from one of the boutiques. Otherwise, the overage isn't that much percentage wise, so if you really want it now, the overage isn't horrific and it's likely to hold, thats a super popular model...

Yup- gonna be almost impossible from a boutique without buying a few pieces. You’re better off biting the bullet and taking it from your buddy.

if you want one from the boutique you will have to take a loss on buying models you don't really want to get the one you do. It will take time, and you will have to float a lot more $, but you will also build a relationship with the boutique for pieces in the future. That said, I went this route and am still waiting to get the model I want lol

the good news is that there are quite a few of 35-02 RED for sale on the secondary market

Indeed, I'm about to start building such a relationship.

But my curiosity is... What are the lesser models that I can buy and wear for a little while to build that a relationship?

Ladies models don't work for me since, well, my lady doesn't wear ladies watches (she prefers men's), and neither do I.

Also, any chance you got your hands on that 2019 pricelist yet? :) Would love to see the updates/changes.

Much appreciated!

The bad news is that things like that are upsetting because some people just get them thrown at them, and they just turn around and flip them.

I won't get into that argument since it's the age old one. :) Happens with Rolex, Patek, cars (supercars, limited editions, etc). Standard human problem -- I'm sure some nobility faced the same problem and frustration 500 years ago, so it doesn't seem new.

A good price and what they are selling for are two different things. Yes they are selling at that price:

Insane to read through this thread from the beginning. The way the market for RM changed in 2-3 years is just amazing. From discount to paying over retail. Hype is a crazy thing.

Very much so. Nothing has changed... Except the hype.

Here it is. I am beyond thrilled with the watch. Having owned the 11-02 in titanium, I think this is leaps and bounds better. The green and yellow really enhance the watch and make it so different from the 11-02.

Such a great watch. Congrats!!! Is it possible to get a wider shot? At that angle, the watch looks like it’s the size of your entire hand.

I actually sold it to my father so that I could buy my Yohan Blake. Yes I bought the 11-03 from the NYC boutique.
