Two watches one choice

Hi all. I am a long time lurker here and am considering between two watches. I really like the 212 and also the 233. I would be buying used, and I know the 233 would be more in $$. I like that they are both domed crystals and are both very good looking watches. The 212 has a little more going on in the dial but I kind of like that. I think I would get bored if it was too 'base.' Does anyone have any input or (even better) wrist shots of either? Or had either watch and can share an opinion? Thank you in advance.

212 dial is not as busy as some other chronos but I prefer the 233. The 8 day power reserve comes in handy.

Is it because the other functions of the chrono are not what Panerai is known for?

I really think the 212 is a sleeper Panerai and highly underrated in terms of design.

Having said that, the 233 is historic, the first Panerai to receive an in-house movement, sits nicely and flat on the wrist, it has a date function which I find useful etc.

Hard to say. Your call.

The 233 gets a lot of love here, from me included.

233 without hesitation. For me, I look to other brands for chronos.

I had a similar dilema :)

They're really two different animals. One is auto with a flyback function and no date. The other manual wind with a date function and power reserve display. Based on looks and not function, I chose the flyback, though that was a complication I didn't own previously. I'm kind of up in the air on the linear power reserve indicator. Not sure I like the look.

So I went with this :) I thought the dial was cleaner for what it was supposed to do.

Both winners, you can't go wrong. 233 will always be more popular on the forums as it is closer to a Panerai base. Plus 8 days is really nice for those that like that kind of thing (like me).

233 for sure.
212 is a good look but I would jump at the 233.
Good luck either way you go.

Me thinks the same. There is very little love for the 212...but for the domed dials its the lowest priced entry point and looks the part. Overall though, between two and depending on how much more, I would prefer the 233.

233 is the way to go. Lot more watch for the money and IMHO is way better looking. I don't like the internal chapter ring inside the 212/213... Notice how they discontinuedamy of the same style? Pinches the dial too much for me where you would usually prefer larger ones while buying a Panerai.

Thank you for your input everyone. I appreciate the information. Is the manual wind more precise than an automatic movement?

I vote for 233!

No manual wind doesn't make it anymore accurate than automatic winding..
