Subc vs Speedmaster Pro

Not a which one to buy thread!

I have the Speedmaster Pro 3570.50.00 and am looking for a Submariner Date 116610LN next.

Obviously, I have been into the dealer and tried the Sub on a few times and compared it to the Speedy, but in my experience wearing a watch for a week or two gives a different experience to trying it on in a shop for a few minutes with an unadjusted bracelet.

My impression is that while heavier, the Sub wears a bit smaller, especially from the 12 lugs to the 6 lugs, and with the clasp adjustment is likely to be a better fit on the wrist.

To anyone who has both, how do they compare for comfort etc. as a daily wearer?

My wrist is 7" if that helps.

Appreciate any feedback.

The SubC is a great watch but I've owned and flipped it a couple of times.

The Speedmaster is still with me and I have no intention of selling. It's lighter and thinner than the Sub and IMO wears very well. More micro adjustments on the bracelet would be nice but an overall comfy watch.

My wrist is 7" and I rotated a Speedy and Sub 16610 for over 30 yrs.

In my bias opinion the older classic Sub would be the perfect mate for your Speedmaster Pro and wrist size. The Sub C is good too.

I have had a SD TT bluesy and a 18kt bluesy. The all gold and SD wear a little top heavy but easy to get use to. TT subs not much different that SS in daily wear.
For me the Speedmaster Pro on a strap is the most comfortable.

Hi

I have the Speedmaster PRO and a Sub 1680. Whilst not answering your query exactly, I can say that the Speedmaster feels slightly bigger than the Sub though not uncomfortably so. I expect it would feel closer in size to the new Sub.

The Speedmaster is a classic and a keeper. Mine has been everywhere in all weathers and it stands the test. Keep it and go for the Sub as a second watch!

Thanks for the feedback.

The Speedmaster is a great watch, but sometimes a bit uncomfortable on the bracelet, due to a combination of lugs quite high up the side of the case, quite long lugs, and only limited adjustment options on the bracelet.

The new SubC seems to solve some of these issues, but if as a couple of people have posted the SubC is less comfortable than the Speedmaster it might not be a sensible move for me.

Guess the thing to do is to try the Speedmaster on a strap first.

Any more feedback appreciated.

Hi Macro,

I have a Speedy Pro and a Subc. Both are very comfortable as daily wearers. The Speedy is a lot lighter but I like the heft of the Sub. I wear the Speedy on leather mainly and i think it's the coolest watch on the planet (or off it).

The Sub is beautiful but flawed (lugs). However, I like my watches snug to my wrist and that means there is a small window between too tight and just right. The Glidelock allows me to get a perfect fit, unlike any other watch I've owned and for this reason it gets top marks for comfort from me.

Thanks And

Which do you find sits higher on the wrist / moves around more?

The Speedmaster does move around just a bit due to the limited adjustment options and high lugs, which I assume the clasp on the SubC would resolve.

While the SubC has wide lugs, they do not seem to stick out as far as the Speedmaster and again may be more comfortable.

Hi,

Ive got both as well and love my speedy pro; its a great watch. I chose to sell my daytona and keep the speedy. Its a masterpiece. Having said that, i enjoy the subc just a tad more. Its heavier but not uncomfy at all. I love being able to adjust the clasp on the fly. Im in denver this week in colder weather and have had to adjust clasp . Next week back at home in los angeles and 80 degrees i will be able to adjust clasp again with ease! Hope the feedback helps. cheers!

I have the Moon watch and the 14060M...they have a slightly different feel, but, in terms of daily wearing, are equally good. Both comfortable and fun to wear. And both offer different ways to make sure you get back to your car before the parking meter expires!

I have a speedy pro and a 50th anniversary sub,I find the rolex bracelet far superior to the omega.I just put the speedy on an everest band and it is my most comfortable setup.

I have a SubC and am in the market for a second watch.

I was determined to get an Omega, particularly the highly regarded Speedy Pro, but I feel I'm forcing myself to love it.

For me the Sub is much preferred. (Leaning toward 39mm Explorer ll as my second really nice watch).

I have both the Speedmaster 3750 and the Subc (114060).

You're right, the Sub wears a bit "smaller". Though it seems taller to me. The Speedy seems bit more flat.
I actually like the braclet on the Speedy better, it's slightly more comfortable in some aspects and I like the looks a little better.
That said I REALLY LIKE the adjust on the SUB. I use it throughout the day. I do "notice" the clasp on the braclet of the SUB more than the Speedy's (as far as "desk diving" is concerned).

Within the last month I've gone from the SUB on a NATO to the SUB on a Braclet to my Speedy. All are comfortable. I just have to try the Speedy on a NATO now.

I rotate between a speedmaster 3750.50 and a 14060 sub and both function well as a daily wearer. I dont think I have a preference in terms of comfort between both models however I have a small wrist which results in the sub's clasp to be off center.

I dont think you can go wrong with either the SubC or Speedy

You won't have to cut your thumbs up winding the Sub every morning..

could get ugly but both great watches. dollar vs. dollar, the sub-c is the better buy option but the smp seems at home with rubber, leather or stainless bands imo. its a toss up.

I have 6.5" wrists and the speedy pro was too long lug to lug so I got the speedy date. I just bought a SubC and the overall length of the sub seems to be shorter than the speedy pro. The sub is as big as I would ever go, but multiple people have said it fits me well. I would pick the pro and the sub as the perfect 2 watch collection for a 7" wrist.

+1. I have both and couldn't dream about parting with either. I prefer to wear my Speedy Pro on a leather strap which makes it a bit more comfortable when compared to my 16610 and other heavier watches.

Speedy on a strap is the best / lightest option for that watch IMO.

Thanks for the replies. It is really difficult to get a good idea of what a watch is like to wear day in day out in a dealer, so this sort of feedback is really useful. I've bought watches in the past that seemed fine, but turned out to be quite uncomfortable after a few days, and it is an expensive mistake to keep making!

I am going to look for a black alligator strap for the Speedy, although I do really like the bracelet - especially the clasp.

The Speedy is really as big a watch as I'd want to wear so I'm moving away from the idea of a Subc and thinking about a 16610 or 16570 now.

Decisions, decisions...

I'm not the biggest fan of leather strapped watches, but I feel that the speedmaster pro looks great with one. These are the two watches I'd want in a collection.
