Are you satisfied with this years Basil Releases?

Is it just me... or do you wish that Rolex had a few more models to release this year... sure would have been nice to have a larger case Daytona... what else would you like to see Rolex release in the future?

You are sort of late to the party...

A couple of people have mentioned this before in a couple of previous threads dude.

I am more than happy with Basel 2013.

I'll only have to buy one new watch. Thank god it's not more.

I don't have any issues with Rolex model releases..

Rolex does not release new "model year" watches or other Limited Editions like so many other watchmakers do just to get some interest and have somebody buy one of their soon-to-be-outdated pieces..

They stay true to their roots and keep the models concise, well-known, and value intensive...

So, nope, not really...

However, I do wish they would get off their rears and release updated bracelets and clasps to the public so we could have these modern accessories for our older watches.. Wouldn't hurt anybody for me to have a new glidelock on my old Sub..

I'm on the fence.

And I really don't want to be buying anything, so sort of glad that I'm not rabid the way I was last year.

That said, I think most of what they released are pretty awesome.

Just not awesome for me, if that makes any sense.

Basil is an herb, no. Basel is a watch expo.
I like the GMTllc Day/Night.

This subject has been beat up on a number of threads pretty good though.

I must have missed those other threads so I appreciate reading yours. Like the new D.D.'s with the leather straps. For Rolex , I think they hit the mark for Basel 2013.

I wasn't even going to go there with "Basil" vs Basel, but I was pleasantly surprised that others did! In regards to this years releases I happen to really like what Rolex/Tudor have come up with. The 2 tone GMT is a great achievement which should hopefully lead to a ceramic Pepsi in the future.

2 good ideas introduced, a platinum Daytona and a two tone ceramic bezel GMTC. Just wish the Daytona had a platinum bezel and no brown, and the Pepsi also comes out, then this will have been a success for me.

I'm satisfied...but I'm interested to see how Rolex develops certain "themes". Such as, will the ceramic bezel go to the gold and SS daytonas, will the two tone bezel on the GMT contain other colors, and since the YMII is now in SS, will other models, specifically the Sky Dweller, be offered in SS.

So mission accomplished, Rolex. Pretty sure this is the effect they were going for.

Except for the nice GMT bezel intro, a year to forget. It might go down as an epic fail year.

I for one love the new releases gmt 2 and yatchmaster 2. As long as there is one piece that interest me per Basel I'm happy

I would have liked to have seen Rolex be more innovative with their movements and case sizes.

I would have preferred substantive changes rather than cosmetic ones. Colored Day Dates? Maybe they'll sell more watches because of what they brought to Basel, and they're in business to sell watches. But this year's offerings didn't do much for me...platinum beauty with brown ring? Brown shoes with a tuxedo.
