I'm thinking that the last couple of watches you bought we're the six digit models, and they have left a bad taste. Go back to wearing your classic shaped watches like the 16600, and you'll soon rediscover your love for Rolex, and watches in general. But there doesn't seem to be much diversity in your collection, I'd sell three or four of them and try another brand like JLC.

i would give it some time and really make sure you feel this way over a long period time before taking such a drastic step

Sell them, find a new interest you can always buy new ones if you get the passion back. Add some cash and buy a sports car!

I guess my opinion is to sell them all but 1-2 that either mean the most or find the one you used to wear the most and keep that 1 or 2. Sell the rest so that one day down the road if you are just hopping on the forum because you're bored and see something that really ignites your interest you can feel pretty good just going out and buying it knowing you already socked away the cash and won't have to find it or sell something to make it.

I'd probably keep one of the SD's you have and then down the road should they release a Pepsi ceramic GMT you just have to have, well just go out and get it.

Specifically what I would do is likely sell them all, get a SubC and call it a day.

Best thread I have ever seen on this forum! It's like someone posted already, the best life is a simple one. I say sell them and live each day doing what you really love doing. Of course its not always easy to work that one out, but don't get caught up in all the material stuff. Its quite unfulfilling really, let's be honest. AM.

People and interests change constantly. Lord knows I've been through a hellava lot of phases in my life but I wouldn't give back any one of them. I've crammed a lot of living in my 40+ years. Since you don't need the money I'd lock them away until you decide the passion is back or want the money for something else. I certainly wouldn't sell them without a plan in place that will make you happier or give you more satisfaction. Life is full of regrets and making knee-jerk decisions is the culprit of most of them.

Well I went thru a similar stage, at the same point in life, 40. I am a hold and collect guy so that's what I did. I am glad I did.. Now at 50 I am back with a vengeance !! My AP 4100yg is double what I paid for it, and now I'm looking AT a new AP & VC overseas. My problem is my watchwinders are full..

In short , money at this point isn't an issue.. Keep them all...

Good luck with your decision...

I like the charity idea. Consider the 73rd poster? Or sell. It seems like you've moved on. Not even wearing a watch? I'd sell.

116710 GMT2C**(V-series)
116660 DSSD***(V-series)
16613 BLUE Sub*(F-series)

I am estimating that my collection is currently worth $35K.

Now here is my dilemma: I am sort of reaching that stage of "been there, done that" as far as watches are concerned. So if I sell my collection, I can safely assume to get $35K back into my pocket. But here is my 2nd problem: I do not need the $$. There is nothing I wanna buy, nothing. I can deposit it in my bank and it will just sit there.

I am getting tired of watches ... the whole last month, I have been going to work without wearing a watch ---something I have never done in my life. I don't remember a day I left my home without putting a watch on. I am finding plenty of places where I can get the time and thinking why do I need a watch....I have been a watchbuff since I can remember. I remember when I was 10, I would cut out a watch's picture from a magazine and using scotch tape, tape it to my wrist and walk around all day and sometimes even sleep with this "paper" watch on my arm...

Now I am in my early 40s and this watch thing seems to be fading ... I just don't feel that interested in watches ... I think my 2 g-shocks are good enough for me...

The solution I am leaning towards is to keeping the collection. Why? Well the money is already spent and these are all Rolexes, many are very desired. So the price of my collection is only creeping upwards slowly ...

So lets say 10ys from now, my collection will most likely be worth lets say
$40K ....but then again, I don't wanna cash out ...maybe keep the collection for my kids so they can cash out once I am gone?

Maybe just sit on it? The watch craze might return back to me?

So what would you do in this case?

Thanks,
We all have hurdles to jump over every day .....now....

GET OVER IT.

Nice collection.

Do not keep them for "investments". That's a terrible way to invest $35k.

That $35k can make u a lot of money in 10yrs if invested smartly and wisely all at once.

I would say maybe keep 1 or 2 and invest the rest of cash.

Or you could lose it all. The money is already spent and the assets are solid. Granted, the rate of appreciation is slow but the risk is minimal. We could argue what's a better investment and neither of us would win. I spent a lot of years on Wall Street and I can tell you there is no such thing as sure thing. Keep the watches and sleep peacefully at night.

A great statement about why Rolex watches should not be bought as investments can be found here:

https://www.rolexforums.com/showpost.php?p=4237055

I love the term "value shelter".

It sounds like you watch fatigue. Perhaps you might want to try putting your watches away in a safe and play with them 1 month from now.

If you still feel the same, then it's time to depart with your watches. Otherwise, if the watches still sing to you then keep them.

I would suggest hanging on to them.

I believe 35000 is a little conservative I wouldnt hesitate to push the value to 36k. I think you have a very desirable collection and although the watch phase of your life may be passing now it may return later. Even if it does not the value of the particular watches you have will only go up IMHO.
If you dont need the money screw it hang on to them until either A) you love them and want to wear them again or B) you could use the money from the sales towards something you love

Keep them until you need the $. They will only appreciate in value.
I've bought / flipped many sport Rolexes, now trying to downsize collection to 2 watches.
I'm also into collecting G-Shock and photography, another expensive hobby.

If you're my feeling them anymore then dump them. It's a watch... No big deal. If you end up wanting one later on we'll you got 35k in your pocket and can go out and pick up another model.

It would be different if there was some sort of personal attachment to them but in your case it just sounds like these are pieces that bought.

You don't need the money. Why go through the hassle of selling? Put them in the safe and forget about it. You may find the spark rekindled in the future.

Keep your favorite.

Sell the rest to find one more new one. Nice and different from the one you keep.

Then pocket the cash or take a sick vacation.

What the hell are rollies they are Rolex watches for Christ sake rollies are cameras. If you cannot even get the name of your watches correct you might as well sell them and buy some rollies.

Call someone, The man's gone insane...
But seriously you can do whatever you want with your watches, but that little 10 years old kid will creep in and no amount of watch-ads-paper-cuts will turn this amazing collection back...
leave it to your kids, they will cherish it forever...
