Diy

I'm new here but not new to Rolex. I have a ss datejust that has a bad crown and I'm wondering just how hard is it to change it myself. Has anyone changed out their own crown before? Please let me know your experiences. thank you.

Rolex is not. DIY project. Have a local watchmaker do it for you. Won't cost much. If you goof it up, you'll be in for hundreds in repairs. Besides, you don't have the tools to remove the case back anyway.

What do you mean by "bad crown"? More than likely you have a bad tube. It's pretty simple if you know what you're doing. 1) unscrew crown 2) screw off back 3) release stem from movement 4) remove movement from case 5) unscrew tube 6) remove stem from crown 7) repeat in reverse with new crown and tube. As I said simple, if you know what you're doing and have the right tools. Otherwise send it to an expert.

You prolly need to consider whether the DJ is ready for a service anyway - then this would be just one extra task without much extra expense except for the parts themselves.

In other words, don't mess it, take it to an expert.
