Theme and variation, which are very important in the arts, is a good reason to own all three of these or to own a complete set of any collectible.

Those are completely different watches, even if they do have similar functions and designs and it shouldn't be a surprise that a collector who appreciates the nuances would want to have all three.

You might want to do a search for Mike Wood's Rolex collection.

That should make your eyes pop and your head spin.

Because it is there.

I was up to 4 (14060, 16610LV & 16613)... Sold 3 & left with a simple old 16600... Owning them all together made it fun to pick my favorite.

This thread needs some pics....

I own two. I bought a 16610, thinking it would be a less expensive way to satisfy my desire for the Sub C.

Of course, I eventually ended up with the Sub C, but I can't imagine ever selling either.

Because your wife won't notice that you've bought 3 Rolexes, she'll think they are all the same one.

ProTip: If the above is true for you, then you can sneak in a GMT and a GMT-IIC with black bezels as well. If she really doesn't know watches, then add a Pelagos and a vintage Tudor Snowflake as well.

What you don't seem to understand is that the 5513 and the 14060m are different. One is plexi and the other sapphire.....even though the "basically look the same". Same thing for the 1680, 16800, and 16610 and 16610LV. Slight differences that are different enough for me to justify owning all of them. What might seem very perplexing to you is that I own multiples of the exact same models. It might seem odd, but I am glad I own all of my Rolex watches and have no intention of getting rid of any.

Different people like different things. I don't care for the DJ II or the Daytona and will probably never own either. Divers are just more interesting to me. I have a DJ TOG and a Milgauss. Everything else is a GMT, sub, or SD.

Your options are:
Submariner
Submariner Date
Sea-Dweller

Why need all 3?
Really? You posed that question fully knowing the responses you'd get, right? Right?

I can see a Sub and a Sub Date. Or a Sub and a SD. Or a Bluesy and any of the three or an 18kt any any of three, but not a Sub and Sub Date unless your talking vintage.

It called "collecting".

I get great joy in looking at my collection. I don't have 3 subs, but I do have very similar watches. I buy them for me. Not for occasions or others.
