City folks get lost

Hey guys using your watch as a compass might do the trick for those city people who get lost in a big room.

Out here we don't even look at the sun for time or direction except when its about to drop over the rim, then we know its BEER time!!!!

Hey padi, that link is dead now. Any other links to that info, or perhaps you saved the text and can "PDF" it?

Sounds interesting!

Yes sorry that link is now dead on server will try and explain it to you best way I can.
In the Northern hemisphere.

1)Set watch on standard time. Attention This does NOT mean daylight savings time.

2)Place on flat surface.

3)Turn watch until hour hand points at sun.

4)Find 1/2 way mark between the 12 O'Clock position and the hour hand.

5)An imaginary arrow from the centre of the watch through this
1/2 way point on the edge of the watch points SOUTH.

6)Therefore continue the line through the watch and you will have south.

If your life depends upon it, and you’re tired and in need of water, and only have a little time left, it’s best to not rely solely on the position of the sun, and this method gives you a nice double-check.

Thanks, padi.

Wow! Do I have to stand on my head and rub my stomach at the same time? I'll have to print the instructions out and carry 'em with me at all times to remember them. My Ranger days in the Air Force, using a compass and my directional wits, are long gone...

PS link is now working Padi.
