Vintage Daytona price estimation

Hello everybody.

I found this great Daytona but the price is very high according to rarity.

http://www.watchpurist.com/rolex-model-16520

Do you think it's over priced ?
I am not a big Rolex expert since I only have AP watches.

Thank you in advance.

Overpriced? Tough to gauge this watch as so few were made. I owned complete NOS set and mine was an R serial which is correct for SS porcelain. So for me I would not consider an L series. Perhaps I am wrong but not so sure about L series for this watch. I can tell you years back I paid $48,000 for mine. Mine was 100% complete including tags etc. and again R series. It is clearly a much more expensive watch now. Best of luck but do your homework first.

An L series 16523 was sold by Christies at the Daytona 50th anniversary auction and it was said that it was the only known 4-liner porcelain dial for 16523/16528 without diamonds, therefore implying that some other 4-liner (i.e. L series) with diamonds existed. However, I myself have never seen a porcelain 16520 non-R series.

My L-42xxxx serial is a 4 liner with already the 225/250 graduated bezel.
I can't believe the porcelain dial, which was was before the normal white floating dial, can have such a L-4 serial. Not saying it's impossible, but unlikely.
That particular configuration with the early 200 bezel and porcelain dial is more likely a R-serial configuration.

Wouldn't want the doubt for 58000 reasons...

As I said, porcelain 4-liners for 16523/16528 watches are known to exist without a doubt.
