1815 Up/Down or Chronometre Souverain?

I am thinking about adding a dress watch to my collection and have narrowed it down to the 1815 Up/Down and the Chronometre Souverain - both in rose gold. I have tried both on and really torn between the two. Would really appreciate to know everyone's opinions, thoughts, and suggestions to help me decide between the two.

I’ve tried them on as well- the 40mm CS was just a tad to big for me, so Ended up getting a CB. 1815 up/down is high on my list as it is a perfect fit for me and gorgeous. Will prob go pre-owned or buy new next time I am in Germany whenever that may be as the spread between US MSRP and pre-owned is huge.

I like the balanced and classic look of the 1815 up/down so would go for that one.

Curious to know if the Journe is similarly priced to the Lange...

Let us know what you end up with.

I considered both and went with the RG CS. I love the sparkle of the raised dial, spectacular movement and feel on the wrist. We all have different tastes, so go with the one that moves you the most.

I really like both watches a lot and think they are about equal in terms of quality. I couldn't fault someone for choosing one over the other and you're in a enviable position. I think it depends on which watch you prefer aesthetically, both front and back. The CS is my favorite FPJ so I'd probably lean that direction, as I'd personally probably rather have another model in the 1815 range, such as the Annual Calendar or the Chronograph, although if you want the power reserve complication, it's a fine choice.

As a Lange owner, I am biased here! 1815 up/down is an amazing watch

Very tough call, can't lose either way really. I'd probably take the CS as it has the better looking caseback and construction, rare to say that against a Lange but that has just too much German plate.

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate all of the feedback. It seems the majority is in favor of the CS and it's tilted my preference in that direction. I am planning to try both watches on again this week and making my decision soon after.

The 1815 Chronograph is definitely my favorite in the 1815 line and it's feeling like a big deciding factor on what I may ultimately end up doing with my decision.

If you go to the Journe boutique in NYC, Michelle is the director and she is exceptional.

Now that caseback is a whole different story.

Congrats, I'm on the cusp of picking up my first FP Journe. I can't decide between the CS and the Octa Lune. Which metal and dial are you planning to acquire?

I'm getting it in rose gold with the silver/white dial and blue hands.

Great pick I want to do a side by side with that model vs one of the models with the gold dials, rose gold hands, and mirror polished indices without the guilloche. Either way I'm going rose gold as well.

The gold dials are a bit too dressy for me but I did really like the look of them as well. Right now I'm debating if I want to get a pre-owned model or a new model. Wondering if I can find an AD that might give a bit of a discount on a new model if possible.

Doesn’t hurt to ask. Try the NYC boutique

Lange is an amazing time piece. 1815 Up/Down should be the pick.
