Congratulations! I got 5524g as my first Patek too earlier this year. Great watch, very versatile, especially with different straps.

A couple questions:
1. The rotor is noisy!! Is that normal?
2. I noticed there is a speck on the dial underneath the 10. Would this bother you? Would they fix it? It’s very minor so I think it is fine, but I wanted to see others opinions (see last pic)

Sorry for the bad pics, hope you’re as excited as I am though. And thanks for looking; any advice on owning a Patek (my first!) is appreciated
Everything about it sure did get my attention. You must be a lucky owner. Congratulations

Thank you everyone! It really is a great watch, I think the perfect first one, and at a bargain (of course I would like a 5711/5167, but I couldn’t fathom the grey premiums right now)

Plus the dial is awesome in the sun, and I love the weight!

Agree, I was thinking of other straps! Do you have any recommendations? I have heard Camille fournet is good

I got Patek’s blue one to match the dial which I like a lot. I read somewhere that Patek no longer makes these, but I was able to find one on Chrono24. I also got Camille Fournet’s gray alligator strap for more formal look, but haven’t worn it yet since the start of the pandemic. You can also search forum here, people have shared images of other straps too.

Congratulations. Beautiful watch. I'm looking at the 7243R, 37mm in rose gold. Wrist is too small at 6.5" for 42mm. I do love that blue dial.

Beautiful combo with the blue strap. Is this an OEM or custom made?

Hello
Beautiful watch. I too am drooling over the 5524R at my AD. The rose gold and leather strap have me mesmerized. Then I look at the price! This would be my first PP. Please someone talk some sense into me or direct me, am I crazy? Probably, but I keep thinking about this watch, but its expensive... HELP

Beautiful watch - if you want it, it’s not going to get any cheaper (at least at the AD ).

Thank you. These pictures show the watch in a "better light" than close ups I have been studying on the Web. When outdoors, the numbers look dazzling. Such a departure for PP.

Now I understand why so much fuss was made over this series. While it is not a blingy watch--at a distance it resembles other pilots (especially Zenith Aeronev Type 20)--it is "overt" for PP. William Massena was underwhelmed. But I agree with others, such as Hodinkee, that this series ignores PP shibboleths (Hodinkee's term) and embraces the rising zeitgeist (my term). For once, PP offers a watch that looks cartoonish with a business suit, but may be just the right accent, similar to a bracelet or ring, with casual wear. How many people will be wearing business suits within 10 years? I also agree that introducing these graphics on a Calatrava instead of Aquanaut and Nautilus is a step towards updating PP's base. I wish PP had offered a 5524 A, stainless steel--or, OMG, titanium, but by the time that happens all 5524s could be much more expensive. Should I buy one now or pick it up during the Great Depression of 2021 sale? Probably now.

I have one question for 5524 wearers (not owners who keep them in the sock drawer). Do you feel any presssure--even slight--from the crown on the back of your hand? I ask because from the pictures I have been studying the crown appears to be positioned quite low. For years, I wore AP chronographs (not ROs) everyday and their crowns "nudged" the back of my hand, scraped off the skin, formed a bruise and then a callous--that was cured when I switched to another brand.
