How to safely ship a watch

I am new to selling a luxury watch online

What method do most of you use for shipping and sending payments?

If you plan on selling, you need to look into ParcelPro. They provide the insurance necessary for shipping high dollar items via UPS or FedEx.

I have used USPS Registered 5 times now. It is slower - but it is tracked, and handled in fewer tracked designed shipments. About the only thing that screws it up is weather and then most all shipments grind to a halt. Takes a week to go cross country.

if you do not like USPS - next choice would be Fed Ex. UPS looses stuff, I personally had a coin shipment from the US Mint opened and stolen from UPS.

The insurance limits for FedEx and UPS are too low for most high value watches (c5k max, as I recall)

This is where ParcelPro comes in - they provide insurance and arrange shipping via FedEx or UPS.

Packing them well helps also.

Parcel pro overnight shipping only. Worst thing you can do is have a package sitting in a warehouse over the weekend...it drastically increases the chance of an employee "misplacing" it.

I understand wire for payment

But shouldn’t the buyer of the watch, sent payment before shipping?

Some buyer want me to ship, and send wire after receiving the watch

Call me old fashion, but I am not comfortable with this

Yes. Never ship a watch or really any other item until full payment has been received.

This. Centennial Group is an alternative to ParcelPro too.

Use tamper resistant tape on the box and if it has been re-taped have the recipient check it while it’s being delivered. Rolex service enters won’t accept a watch that hasn’t been sealed with tamper resistant tape.

1. Record your wrapping and packaging as proof. (BUYER can accuse you of an empty box)
2. Ship overnight FedEx (never ship it on Friday). Make sure it's signature required. Avoid USPS (their tracking system is outdated and behind time).
3. Buy insurance coverage. (SELLER is responsible for loss or issues)
4. Also, make sure BUYER has a good reputation. There are some who will find a way to screw you over by making some false claim, etc.
5. If you are a new SELLER, then most people won't feel comfortable wiring you money. Your best bet is face to face transaction or sell it to a grey market seller. Too many scams online...I rather buy from a reputable seller with references.

You should check www.secursus.com

You can insure your watch within 2 minutes ( no need to provide endless background or info , up to 100.000€ and with all carriers. )
No limit restrictions for specific countries.
You ship the watch with the carriers of your choice and then insure it on Secursus.

Secursus seems a good option - has anyone ever had to claim on it? Are they reputable?

I wouldn’t send a wire to anyone but a well vetted TS, and even then I’d prefer to pay with a credit card(Paypal or direct). Good luck to a new seller.
