The dial looks different also, the triangle at 12 o’clock looks sloppy in the first pics and clean in the second batch. Did they add metal to the case before they polished it? The lugs look thicker

Dial was changed by me. The dial in place when I bought it had been relumed in the 1980s. It was very old lume that had patina, but the relume was a sloppy job. I replaced that dial with a vintage, NOS service dial from a TS here on the forum. The lug width has not changed... it just looks wider because they flattened out the top as they polished it. It’s supposed to be flat, and not rounded. That makes it appear wider versus the rounded top of the lugs in the “before” shot. Always be careful who you allow to polish a case. They can end up rounded - by someone who is not skilled. For the most part... “just say no to polishing.”

They won’t touch dials from my understanding. That’s where they draw the line. If I needed one fixed from damage I would send it to MY in China I think. He is awesome.

OP, super cool restore. I love it. They are fixing my Datejust now; full on restore/recut.

You have a bigger problem...

How are you ever going to wear that watch out of the house without keeping your arm tucked against your chest to avoid bumping concrete and metal perils of the world?

Beautiful piece. Enjoy!

LOL thanks! I won’t be the one “navigating the perils of the world with it...” I took it on as a restoration project knowing it would not stay. I am a GMT guy and have a few. It was the challenge of improving this vintage piece that appealed to me. Good fun.

Looks awesome! I'm glad that I'm not the only one that appreciates "restored" Rolex watches. I would almost always opt to have a poorly polished case "corrected" by LAWW.

I was wondering what all they did.
Did they make the lugs thicker, or just recut them?
I cannot tell from the photos.

They recut them, to restore flat and bevels. I can tell that they are the same width as before. They just look wider because they have flat surfaces.

Similar work to what was done on my 5513 by LAWW, I have nothing but praise for Edvi and the team. Bought as a beater for $3K from Jacek but now the case is perfect, and colour-matched hands look much better with the yellowed dial markers. If I could be bothered to source a new bezel insert and pearl it'd be a new-looking watch. Good for you!

Really incredible. Just a point of clarification - the $700 was just to recut the case? What was the turn around time?

Yes, that was for the case work, and case back. Took about 5 weeks, and I am sure that would vary with their workload. 🤙

Really awesome - thanks for the info. Really considering sending my 16750 to them to get a clean up. Would love to see some chamfers.

Thanks! Got lucky. Local jeweler with 40 years experience found it in his drawer. No one back then would have thought inserts might be as sought after as they are now. It cost me a pretty penny, but a vintage GMT from the 1960s deserves to have a Red Back.
