Rolex GMT 16753 with a 3035 movement?
Hello,
Today I purchased a Rolex GMT 16753 with a root beer bezel / brown nipple dial. I had it opened at Mayors where there were no immediate red flags. Later upon examining the appraisal I saw that under MOD, # it says 16753/3035. I am assuming that 3035 is the caliber number but I know this is not right for this model number. Is it even possible to add a GMT hand to a 3035 caliber? Without opening the case is there any way to differentiate a 3035 from a 3075? Is it possible that the movement was not stamped thereby leading the watchmaker to call it a 3035? If it does turn how to be a 3035, how much will that decrease the value of the watch? Thanks for your help. Regards, nikolo1986 |

My guess is it is a typo.
It should say 3075. |

Took it to my watchmaker today and it is most definitely a 3075 caliber. Crisis averted. In fact, he referred to the movement as an untouched "specimen". I lucked out I guess. How rare is the 16753 root beer nipple dial? Any ideas?

I know this is an old thread. But no one answered your question. It is very rare. I would hold on to it forever just for that reason. Just the root beer dial is rare. To have the nipple root beer dial makes it just that much more rare. Good luck and hope you still have it after all this time. I will never part with my Plan root beer!
