Does a G-shock belongs in a watch collection, and why yes, why no?

Title says it all,,

Does a Gshock watch belong in a watch collection? Why yes, and why not?? I'd like to buy one to go with my Rolexes but i am still afraid that i ruin my collection of just 2 Rolex watches with buying one

i think so as they have some very iconic watches and many people choose them as beaters as they can truly take a beating.

I like Casios and Seikos

Fun for the beach, vacay, dangerous places, etc.

It’s fine to have one. Up to you if you count it as part of your collection or not.

My beater is a €35 Casio world timer. I get a huge amount of pleasure from wearing it actually. More because of how tough it is for such little money.

Pic was before I had my other Diver, but it has served me well above and below water in all kinds of temperatures without issue ever.

Yes!

They have their own history that keeps them a viable option for anyone who wants a watch to use for sports, or whatever. One doesn't have to go cheap either, they make some pricey G's.

Casio Pro-Trek is a other great option for an atomic solar ABC super rugged outdoor watch. I find its looks a bit more refined than the G Shock.

Yes, as does a Swatch, and a Sistem51 too. These are iconic watches.

Being in a serious collection would obviously depend on what the theme of the collection might be. For me, I own and wear regularly both G-Shock (5000 series) and Swatch (various) in addition to numerous other more "serious" watches.

Definitely. An entry level G-shock only costs about $50 and is a perfect beater watch for cycling, working out, etc.

It's your collection so you get to say what goes in it.

I have a Garmin golf watch that is in my collection. But as someone else stated, it's not in the case. Actually, my case only holds 10 and have 12 or 13. I need a bigger case!

I have a couple of G-Shocks and a Sistem 51 in my collection of about 20 watches and I wear them as part of my regular rotation

Why Not? It's still a watch, despite being quartz. If someone likes it, of course.

I have a GW5000 as my only G-shock. Think it’s going to be a keeper. Definitely nice sometimes having a watch that you know can go to hell and back.

I’ve had a few other G’s in the past, but I think they always felt too cheap to keep as a staple in the rotation. The GW-5000 might be a little hard to justify the price, but I picked one up used and the added weight makes it feel like a really quality product that finds its way on my wrist a lot more than previous G’s.

Yes. Just because it is quartz or does not cost a lot does not make it part of a real collection. I have several, as well as, several Seiko's and think of them as part of my collection. I am a big believer in the right tool for the right job and the G-Shock covers some of that.

Absolutely, great tool watches. I wore this one for years when I was on the job, if this watch could talk the stories it could tell. That fact alone makes it collection worthy. This one is semi retired but always ready to go. Solar powered, resets to exact time every night, can’t beat that.
We gave an identical one to Holly’s son when he was in the Marines and he still wears it every day. That one flew many times on his wrist as an aerial observer in a Sea Stallion helicopter, tough watches no doubt.

I say Yes because I consider it a zombie apocalypse survival watch (especially if you get a 3 or 4 sensor G-Shock with solar charging).

Yes without hesitation. Inexpensive and functional watches with character. I only have one and wore mine in the jacuzzi tonight. If/when this stops running, I’ll buy another one.
