Sizing the Royal Oak bracelet

How do you do it? I searched here and Google, but nothing. I removed some screws, and they don't go all the way through. Do I need to use a pin pusher also?

but may be wrong though

I alter the bracelet on my 15400 regularly (add/remove 1.5 link). Are you working on the links close to the clasp?

Once the screw is out, the link should separate.

Can anyone point out the correct screwdriver size? Also, is it best to have a hollow ground screwdriver, like the ones we use to size Rolex watches?

Do you need two screwdrivers to remove as on the ROOs?

I use a typical watch screwdriver. Not sure if the size but it works perfect. Just screw and pull. Shouldn't need a second screwdriver or a push pin. I took out various links trying to find the right fit.

If a screw is tight you may need to heat it up first.

You only need the screw driver with correct size. No pin pusher required. I have sized my RO few times without any problem.

Can you share the screwdriver size (1.4mm, 1.6mm)? Also, is it better to use a hollow ground (cut out) screwdriver, like we use for Rolex screws?

I figured out the solution. And I have no idea why I didn't get email notifications.

No, you do not need 2 screwdrivers. You need 1 screwdriver and a Pinot needle or tiny paper clip. So, you unscrew the screw on the bracelet, and then push from the opposite side with a needle or thin item. The pin should slide right out. It's not a friction pin, it's just held in place because of the shape of the thing, and should come out freely.

I'm curious about this... I've sized my 15400 a dozen times and I'm good to go with just a 1.4mm screwdriver.

Now I know AP changed the links late in to the I serial. I have an I serial but it's the older link. I found this out from the service center when getting a 1.5 link.

Is yours a newer I serial with the new link?

I just take my APs over to my AD that I do all of my other watch business and wife's jewelry with and they take care of sizing for me no sweat while I wait--- and peruse the case for something I can't live without...

A screwdriver is a screwdriver...

I don't mess with them myself -- it's just me. I know all those guys are human beings -- but I feel a little easier with them messing with it than I do!!!

Yeah Neil, on the ROO I normally just remove the whole bracelet and go back and forth with other option I have, but just looked at the individual links and yeah, one screw driver is all that is needed. Was a little over zealous with my response because my mods are different than just a link.

Bracelet to case is a 2 screw driver job links that are remove able are 1.

Apologies.

My bracelet AP is a 2013.

Yeah I would take it to the AD they most likes won't charge for the sizing. Also you can probably ask them to show you how it's done.

No half link, it's one and a half - and your nearest AD or AP in London can sort you out, assuming they've any in stock.

Thank you for posting this. I have an I series 15400 and read all the heat treat/loctite warnings so when the screws on the links came off easily but the link didn't separate, I thought I messed up. I thought I broke the screw head off because the screw is so small.

You are correct, once you remove the screw, you need to remove the pin the same direction the screw came out. If you flip the watch over with the screw removed the pin might fall out, but if not a small nudge with a toothpick will push it out.

It's done via screws, easiest thing in the world with the right screwdriver...

Just undo the screw, I've had 4 RO and have never had to push from the other side.

I'm currently in my 4th Royal Oak and just realized the I series bracelet changed from a large screw that goes all the way through the bracelet to a tiny screw and a pin that you just push from the other side to take out...

This seems like a step back, why would they do this?

Kinda like PP did with the 5711 switching from screws to push pins.

I was wondering the same thing myself. The large screw is much simpler than the tiny screw and pin setup.

i was able to size mine with just a small screwdriver. while a small pin or needle makes the process easier, if you shake and twist the bracelet the pin eventually will fall out
