Here’s a question. Did anyone consider any other FPJs for their first?

Love Mine!

This may not be a fair reply as I have not had mine very long, just shy of a year now. I can say the honeymoon is still on going. In fact the longer I have owned it the more fonder I have grown. You notice and appreciate details that to me were not fully known prior to my ownership. Just a few comments that others may find useful:

1. It is the most accurate mechanical watch I own. 1 second a day accuracy.

2. The dial and case are just stunning to look at. The case is beautiful and knowing how hard the material is to work with and the reject rate makes me appreciate it more. The dial changes color based on the lighting. It is a beautiful blue. I own(ed) other blue watches but this color is just beautiful while not being in your face. Hard to describe.

3. We all know and love the beautiful solid gold caliber that is behind. Just memorizing.

4. Versatility - as others have stated you can wear this watch with anything and just about any where.

All in all like all of Journe's creations it is a work of are that has a soul. So in summary zero regrets and very glad I was able to acquire one.

L&H, did you manage to handle one before ordering? I've had a few near misses at AD, but apparently Marco will be in the US later this year and so hopefully NYC will be a stopover.

I've fallen pretty heavy for the Georg, from the pictures at least.

I haven't seen a L & H in person... Bought based on what I've seen online. I'm supposed to receive it in the next month or 2.

Yes. For me, from the moment I learned and read about FPJ, the Resonance was the watch to own. Specifically a 1st generation brass movement, gold dial, 38mm.

However it wasn't practical, and so the CB came first. The Resonance followed.

The CB wins for many because it's materially cheaper than the next cheapest FPJ, AND it's actually a much more appealing watch than any of the CS models I've ever seen.

I own the Resonance, its the most beautiful and amazing complication but the only downside... winding it is a bit of a pain

I considered the Centigraphe Black Label in Platinum as my first FPJ. Was offered a steal of a price on it. In the end, I decided it was too fussy and busy for my liking.

For me, the CB is a keeper and puts a smile on my face every time I wear it. Very versatile and flies under the radar if that’s what you like. That said, I’ve had a few non WIS people comment on the beauty of the watch.

If you can get one, I’d definitely recommend.

A couple pics; one with the original blue strap and one with a tan strap.

Watcheroo - very nice pictures and you raise a good point. While flying under the radar I too have had the most comments from non WIS types on the CB. Beautiful watch all around.

Yes 38mm CS. Another beauty and frankly was the first Journe to catch my eye.

Just curious, how often do you wear the blue strap vs the tan strap?

Does it bother anyone that owns one that there is zero lume on the watch? I like my watches having lume (primarily just because I find it attractive/interesting/fun when driving trough tunnels or walking from a brightly lit area to a shadowy area, like a garage to see the effect of lime on the overall appearance of the watch— not so much for reading the watch in true darkeness— and I wonder if a lack of lume would bother me or be a let down?

Not at all. But for me I would never even have thought about that.

None of my dress or dressier watches have lume so I did not expect it. Only my divers and sport watches have lume.

I wear the blue strap more often only because it’s more versatile. The tan strap comes out when I feel like a bit of a change

Doesn’t bother me. The dial more than makes up for it. The shades of blue on the dial are incredible

Does anyone here have both a CB and Patek 5167? Curious what your thoughts are between the two if you do as I am deciding between them.

I used to own the 5167. It’s a great watch but quite different to the CB. It depends what you want. The Patek is a bit sportier than the CB that is just plain beautiful.

I’ll put it this way - I wouldn’t trade my CB for a 5167. But that’s me.

Tough choice, but the good news is you can’t go wrong either way.

I can see myself wearing a CB in both a casual context, especially with a tan strap, and in a dressier context, especially with the blue strap. Am I right, or will I be disappointed once I have it that it isn’t as versatile as I think?

If you have the ability, try on the CB, or even the CS model

Well, where’s the fun in that compared to basing my decision entirely on strangers’ opinions!
