Has anybody shipped to Canada recently? What can I expect for customs/fees?

Drive over on a Nice day, receive your package, wear your watch, mail the box to yourself while across the border, drive back across the border. Save yourself thousands to put towards your next watch.

I gave the OP a suggestion. What he does is his prerogative.
Plenty of Canadians and Americans do this daily crossing the border. I know this cause I cross the border often to pick items I buy and have shipped to a storage facility few mins from the border. Most people unwrap their items and throw them in the car.

But if you must know, It is what I would do. No way in hell you can tell me everyone crossing the border declares all they purchase. Obviously, some things that have to be declared are declared. Other things like a watch on my wrist that the border agent wouldn't think twice about,I would have no issues simply driving across with.

This is not heaven. It is Planet Earth. Let's be realistic.
Who in the capitalist hell of a world we live in doesn't want to save on sales tax.

Again, this is a suggestion. OP is free to do whatever rocks his boat.

Years ago I sold a Daytona to a Canadian buyer. He asked me to ship it to an upstate New York location of the company he worked for. After verifying the receiving person was legit I did just that. The buyer drove down and took it back home, I’m sure without declaring it.
Not my business and I do not judge. Whether one morally agrees with it or not I’m sure it is a daily occurence.

PS: I have bought a half dozen or more watches from overseas sellers over the years. All were shipped to me with the proper declaration paperwork and I was never charged customs duties on any of them, I assume it’s a pretty random act amongst the thousands of packages arriving daily.

I'd still be careful with this. It may work, but the CBSA does open packages at Gateway facility in Mississauga (for Ontario). If they find an empty Rolex watch box with papers/receipt they will slap duty on it, they aren't stupid. Also going forward, you'll be flagged any time you enter into Canada and will have trouble with the CBSA because of this.

If one goes this route, they need to make sure no receipt, papers etc are in the box. They should carry that on their person across the border, as the likelihood of being physically searched is much lower. Or, mail those documents separately from the box. If the CBSA intercepts an empty rolex box, there's not much they can do.

TL;DR- there is always a risk of being busted when doing this, and it's higher than you think.

My only grey purchase ever was my BLRO from California. The transaction went great, the shipping went great and I got my watch after paying the tax/duty. I'm happily enjoying the watch now. If you can't afford the shipping/tax/duty, buy in Canada. Don't go down the ''try to get out of tax'' rabbit hole. High risk, marginal reward.
