Question on buying first Rolex Sub
So I would like to purchase my first Rolex Submariner sometime this year from a AD I currently live in Mississippi but would travel out of state if need be to buy one. So is this going to be a impossible task the way the market is right now ? Any recommendations of a AD so I could get in line to purchase one from and if need be please PM if you don’t want to make a post.
Thanks for your help, Danny |

It's hit or miss. No one is going to be able to tell you which AD you can get a Sub from (because no one knows). There have been recent stories of people going in and coming out with a Sub on their first visit, so try your luck. Just go in, be honest, be genuine, see where it goes. Worst they can say is no.

Look on the Rolex website for locations of ADs you are willing to travel to and call them all and tell them you want to buy a Sub. One should call you within a year.

There are no shortcuts, it’s all shoe leather, patience and luck. Visit local ADs, make your case, make a friend if you can, say your prayers, eat your vegetables and repeat. If this brings you no joy then buy your perfect watch from a grey and have it tomorrow. In a week you’ll forget how much you paid for it.

It used to be still relatively easy to get a watch in Mississippi when the market started to harden on Rolex. Sadly, that is no more. In Hattiesburg, you’re about halfway between the two ADs in the state. I’d introduce yourself to both and develop some rapport with an SA there. Buy some jewelry for your significant other or kids. Good luck! I hope we both get a call soon!

Consider the no date. Was told people tend to overlook that model.
But love the symmetry on the dial and the lack of date, which means I never have to adjust the date every 60 days and I don’t have that non functional cyclops over the date. I wear mine non-stop. Good luck & happy hunting. ![]() Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

It will probably be relatively hard at this point in time. There are some exceptions, but this is generally not a very easy task. I ultimately chose to go secondary for my Sub after several ADs were brutally honest with me on my odds of getting it from them.

You’ll need put a lot of work in, especially if you’re turning up at ADs who don’t know you, and with whom you have no spend history. The days of “getting in line” are gone in many cases. You may be better going grey market weighing up hassle and time vs cost. |

Great choice on the Submariner. A Rolex classic and a cornerstone to any Rolex collection. As you are aware the market is at best difficult and at worst, insufferable. The discussion of whether to go AD or Grey Market is discussed here quite a bit and my take on it is get on the phone to the AD's in Mississippi and see what they tell you. Also look at the inventory of several of our Trusted Sellers that have websites. Get on the phone with them and have a discussion about pricing and availability. Don't negotiate until you are ready because nobody likes a tire kicker but you can typically get a little off by asking. The best deal seems to be on the 114060, Submariner ND, from the last generation, slightly preowned. By the time you add sales tax in on your AD purchase you will be somewhat close and you can have the watch tomorrow by lunch after you pay. Good luck and let us know what you come up with.

Here in the UK you’d be lucky to get one in several years if at all if you have no spend history. I’ve even been to smaller family run ADs and they won’t even take an expression of interest.
Good luck it does seem a little easier in the US from what I see people say here |

Me, I have a relationship with my local AD. I've been waiting for either a no date or date for about two years. I have given up hope that I will ever get one.
The AD tells me the same story every six to eight months, "the professional models are extremely hard to get." What pis__es me off is they have a big Rolex road side billboard with a Sub on it. |

Maybe try visiting or at least phoning Rolex AD in a reachable distance and tell them how much you want one and would appreciate being on their list. BUT don’t put any money down. Good luck. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

welcome, good luck.
I'm in the same boat. Waiting for a sub date! some AD's are very rude towards people like us who are in the market for an in-demand model without any purchase history. but some will be keen to help you, even if you have no purchase history. keep your head up and you will find the right place! |

I spent 25 k at my Ad in two years. Got offered one in March 2021 but turned down. I regret it.
Was in a mad scramble to get one by end of 2021, ended up scoring from AD I had zero purchase history |
