I had a 1963 Chevy Belair two door Sedan with a 283 and 3 on the tree. It was my little sex mobile. I was a stud.

I loved that car as I could do all of the mechanical work on it. Now I look under the hood and wonder which thing is the engine.

Mine was a very used POS 71 Camaro with a 305 Two Barrel with 3 on the floor.

My second car is the car I remember with the fondness of a first car. 73 Dodge Charger. The car had a huge 400 cid and would smoke the tires as long as your foot was on the floor from a start. I got in a good bit of trouble as a 17 year old racing and driving the hell out of that Mopar. On a strait line is would keep up with or walk on most anycar except my best friends 69 GTO, but it was real scary when you had to go around a corner. I wish I still had thet car.

OOh, Paulie. My folks had the 1976 also. In metallic lime green with white leather interior. It had the double square headlights. Those were fine cars in their day!

I had a Mini 1275 GT which I was using to rebuild a Mini Marcos.. Didn't really finish the project so I bought a Honda Civic 150i Spreeline. Awesome car. Loved it. The first of many Honda's

I saw a few of those around the high school parking lot, Mike. My brother had a 1976 one in dark blue - until Mom and Dad reclaimed it due to his aberrant behavior!

My first car was a 1974 Ford Cortina 1600L. I had it in 1982 and wrote it off in 1983.

Library pic, no digi camera in my salad days.

The Renault 4L was the 1st but my favourite car to this day is the classic SAAB 96. I had 4 in all! I think similar to 'timeless' Rolex classic style.

Congratulations on getting that together! Those were great cars, in their funky way. A friend just bought a true 30,000 mile one. Aside from the unfortunate door ding guard applied to the exterior and the curious wind deflector, it is remarkably straight and original. Hate 'em in red, though. Attaching an ungraceful photo to flame your nostalgia.

Got rid of it when I lifted the carpet and saw not the chassis but the ground. I had been sitting on the frame (barely) for who knows how long. That was when the Japanese were making their cars out of used beer cans.

It was a blue 1966 Ford Thunderbird Landau. I bought it for $100 when I was about 17 years old back in about 1975ish. It laid dormant in my uncles backyard and there were plants growing out of the engine where the water pump once was. It had a beautiful interior and all the electronic dodads that anyone could ever want. The main feature was the couch like backseat and the landau panels that offered a teen boy with some "privacy". The car did take a lot of work to get and keep running. I still have the set of Craftsmen tools that I had to buy to keep it going. They cost more than the car! As a Ford, it lived up to the acromymn: Fix or Repair Daily. Definiately not my most reliable car, but it was my most memorable car. I learned a lot about mechanics, life and spent a lot of quality time with my dad and friends keeping that car running. I still look at them today with fond memories whenever I see those sequential turn signals flashing in front of me.

1979 GMC C-15 pickup. Got 12 mpg. Saved for years to buy one, then the engine let go 3 months after I bought it.

1980 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser Diesel Station Wagon.

Blew head gaskets with amazing regularity, due to the horrible engine design.

The rest of the car was great though! Funny thing is that I have recently started dreaming that I own it again.

Dad had a 1963 Monza Spyder Turbo Coupe as his daily driver - the cars were great, and I only agree with you about Nader, except for the fact that he decided to pick on the Corvair with near exclusion of the Beetle, which killed far more people with its swing-beam axle. Hitler's last revenge.

I still love the late Corsas.

I'm not clear that Nader was right even about the Corvair. I think they were great cars, and the transverse spring solved most of the earlier tuck in. My grandmother had an early car, and as far as we could tell drove by braille. We were forever counting the new scrapes and dents; she had well over a hundred dings in the car before she quit driving.

My dad had a 66 coupe which was a really nice car, but unfortunately he sold it as the seats hurt his bad back.

Brings back memories. After my '58 Fury went bust, my next car was a '65 Corvair. it was basic transportation - 3 speed stick on the floor, no AC, and the only option was an AM/FM radio.

Not mine (but exactly like mine -same color).

Mine was something like this...

The one above was not mine, mine looked a lot worse. Cost me a whopping $50. Got the money from my paper route. I think it was a '56. Had the wood trim on the panels (w/rust between)... wish I still had that one... Thanks for the jog of the memory...
