Smooth Bezel Day-Date

Hi all,

Recently had the chance to try on a smooth bezel Day-Date in white gold and I must say I was smitten.

For the ones that own one, would you kindly post your pictures and impressions?

It's not as flashy dare I say as the fluted bezel model and to me it felt like a dream daily.

PS: I already browsed all of the Day-Date owners thread, just looking for more enabling PXL_20221031_024512057.jpgPXL_20221031_025014056~2.jpg

I don't have one but I think it looks phenomenal. If you get the chance, I would.

I thought the smooth bezel was only available on platinum.

This is an example from the early 2000s, should have mentioned that. Not new.

That’s gorgeous, I wouldn’t say understated or low key though, compared to the one the OP posted (maybe that’s just because I know about watches) that blue dial is a sure sign it’s a platinum Rolex for me at least.

Certainly a smooth bezel is less flashy than a fluted though.

The baguettes are what keep this one low key

Amazing! So similar yet so different.

I think for a daily I would still lean towards the smooth bezel personally.

Thank you!

I think the watch looks more like a stainless smooth OP than a DD to the untrained eye. Most have no clue regarding the ice blue dial and what watch it's exclusive to, except us fanatics!!

Actually, the baguettes play more like indices unless your nose is 12" or less from the dial, and no one but my wife gets that close to my wrist.

Perhaps I'm kidding myself, but out of all the DD's this one looks like SS, at least I like to think so. I bought it to wear a DD toned down, my YG DD's are loud and in some situations, not the image I want to project.

Jay and Brian, cheers!!

I don’t own one but really want a smooth bezel 118209 but on the oyster bracelet. It looks like a stainless datejust 116200 but has full gold and a date complication. The smooth bezel and presidential bracelet to me makes me think it’s platinum, plus I feel like the presidential goes with a fluted bezel.
But, yours looks really nice and low key is more my style.

It’s easier to clean and less prone to nicks but feels almost incomplete without fluted

Just out of curiosity, can anybody that bought a 118209 or 118206 tell me what the msrp on it was at the time?

My daily/only is a 118209 on oyster. (You can see a bit of it in my avatar.) It looks like a stainless watch—nobody has ever seemed to notice it, and that’s my preference. Smooth bezel, white gold, oyster bracelet, 36mm—just a perfect all-rounder that goes with jeans or shorts or with a suit. Nothing ostentatious about it, but it’s captivating all the same, and the heft of the pm is extremely satisfying. Since getting it, I haven’t seriously considered getting another watch. I don’t think there’s anything else at that price point that would check all the boxes like this does.

You mean the original MSRP? Not sure.

Glad to hear your story, that's what I'm gunning for. Something special but not too loud, so I can wear it anywhere.

Yes, was curious as to the original MSRP.

If you scroll down in this thread you’ll see original prices (in CAD, so some conversion may be necessary).
