Panerai spotting

I have been developing an affinity for Panerai over the last few months, and am closer to actually buying one. I have pretty much settled on a 111.

Anyway, today I was in Wagamama's in Belfast (Northern Ireland, not Maine!), and at the bench in front of me, there were two guys wearing Panerai's. They were not together.

The chances of seeing two separate Paneristi in such close proximity in a small city with no AD are pretty small. One was a submersible (024 or 025), and the other a Luminor chrono (I think it was a 250).

I have always thought that the more complicated Panerais were unattractive, especially the submersible. This is one of the main reasons I had decided on a 111, as I think it captures the true essence of Panerai. Having seen these two more "full-on" Panerai, I am not so sure now. Time to rethink things.

I see a lot of Panerai watches in the wild. It's fun, although, most of them aren't WIS.

I have only seen one PAM outside. I saw a realtor on the HGTV Property Hunters wearing a PAM though. I like wearing my PAM 111, because nobody recognizes it. I do not have to worry about wearing it to work and having somebody complain. I hide my Rolex if I wear it to work.

I didn't notice before but I saw my first Panerai in the wild back in March. I saw a guy wearing one at one of the outlet malls in Orlando. Couldn't tell which one it was. It is pretty rare to see one it seems.

Not many in the wild here in Austin, but when I travel to Las Vegas or LA, they are all over.

Must be just me, but I do see them relatively often.
Even see them when I travel to other countries...

At least you are trading up for some fantastic pieces.

If you can find a VC you like, then you've won the trifecta!

Enjoy in good health!

I hardly used to see a Panerai in the wild and when I did and commented to the owner they seemed genually excited and wanted to talk watches/straps. Now I somtimes see a couple a day and the owners have no clue about watches and dont want to talk about them. Seems that its the popular fashion trend right now. Girls seem to like them so thats always a plus.

I think the people that have Panerais and don't know much about them or want to talk about them are probably fakes. I've come across that a couple times. A casual friend of mine had one on at a party recently and didn't know anything about it or straps. I took a look at it not trying not to look like I was in detective mode, but he wouldn't let me look at it long and it looked off in many ways.

I can't believe a Panerai owner would know much about their watch or anything about the strap world.

You traded the 372 for the PP? You sure do play big stakes.

I guess Tasmania is quite wild in terms of the wildlife; here in Belfast, there are no animals that will kill you but it can feel pretty wild, especially around July time.
