What is your fav unphotogenic watch that kills in the metal?

This is my second post inspired by the YG black dial submariner. I was so stunned to see it in the metal!

I think most watches look better in the metal but are there any that make a huge difference?

I’d love to try some on this weekend!

SubC and SubC Date. Off wrist, looks chunky. On wrist (with bracelet), looks out of this world.

I don’t know, my sub looks pretty good in pics, person, and on the wrist!

For me, it was easily the SS YM2. Always dismissed it until I tried it on in person and it was phenomenal. The blue bezel pops like crazy and the white dial is so crisp. Even at 44mm wears pretty slim on the wrist so doesn’t feel too big. Definitely a watch that has to be seen to be fully appropriated.

There are no "unphotogenic" watches. Just bad watch photographers.

16622. It feels really special on the wrist and every time I think of maybe trading it towards something else, handling it and putting it on changes my mind.

I think the SubC LN is stunning in real life. Looks great in photos but even better in real life

I’ve threatened to sell my Tudor GMT so many times but every time it goes on my wrist I remember why I bought it!

I have a YG blue sub. The TT often looks much better in pictures due to the way the camera picks up the contrast in metals better than contrast between texture only. The full YG oyster looks WAY better than the TT or stainless steel in person. If I hadn't seen a YG oyster in person I don't think I would have known to go that route.

Most everything from Grand Seiko. The pics on their website are a shame. Spectacular in the metal.

The new YM 42mm WG looks much better than the pics IRL.

My Grand Seiko definitely. The way lights reflect off the hands and hour markers is absolutely mesmerizing.

DJ41/Smooth bezel/silver dial/Jubilee .

Earlier this year had luck with a walk in Sub/Date find at an AD.
In the display was the above mentioned watch .Just a beautiful combination ..mingled in my mind for a week and went for it.

Interesting, most compliments on this one comes from other ADs ..they see it and remarks on it .A combination they never considered ordering themselves ...

PS: I think I actually prefer this one above my DJ41/fluted/blue/jubilee .

Original BlackBay Bronze.

Took a chance on it after not really liking the images at all, but the reviews were stellar and bronze watch believers were very proud and vocal. So I had to try it.

Since acquiring, I haven't looked back. It's very substantial to hold and wear while the bronze is aging very nicely. There's also no bad scratch or ding to fret over since it adds to the character and blends nicely over time. It even gets the occasional compliment and the fact it contrasts, yet matches nicely with my THC, adds to the fun.

So much enjoyment and versatility for a reasonable sum in a crowded SS Swiss diver world.

Don’t own it but the new ceramic seamaster is pretty amazing in person. The photos didn’t interest me but in person, it’s really great.
