5d is 5 digit. I think similar to the reference that was stolen from you.

Uh, no they’re not. Not over here.

Plenty of decent 5d 116520 Daytona models from sellers around $15k usd or £12k. Maybe not perfect, but they’re dealing. Can even get a 2t around that price.

My thoughts are you had a 116520 Daytona if it was new in 2006.

If you try to get a 16520 it will cost close to that £15k you mentioned.

In London in particular absolutely not especially because its not an AD you have a prior relationship with.

sorry , you need to go grey

Im not kidding, ive seen probably a handful of people come into my AD in london with that exact problem over the past few years. Not that specific watch, but insurance replacements and you dont go to the top of the list.

Good advice on the larger US market. I think I’ll stop and not rush into buying the first replacement I’ve seen. I am off to SF and Seattle next week so I may visit a few stores there and see what I find. Thanks for your support.

And for people that were asking. It was in Cannes, France at a festival. Apparently it’s very common on the coast out there.

There is a Tourneau in Sf. They should be able to pull purchase history if they haven’t purged there system.

Yep I’m looking on chrono24 now. Without papers 13,500 with 17k. May as well go ceramic I think.

Reading through this thread is like having your wife change the channel ten minutes into a murder mystery. I'm sure I am not the only one waiting to hear the story of where and how you got robbed.

Just want to point out that OP did indeed mention owning a Daytona in a post from Jan. 2018...

OP—sorry for the mess. Hope you can find a piece that fits the bill.

It’s pretty embarrassing.. but here goes. I mentioned earlier it was Cannes France. The whole story is that I got drugged and in a state of confusion woke up in the back of some random bloke and his accomplices car. Driving out of town on a motorway I asked to get out and they said no. Then at lights I made a run for it. But could barely move due to whatever they slipped into my drink. Then they bundled me over and took my watch and drove off. iPhone and wallet was not taken. I then ended up having to walk three hours to get back to my apartment as my iPhone had died and I couldnt call an Uber and had no idea where I was. Yes it sounds far fetched and I think the insurance company thought so too as I had to give about 5 statements before they would pay out.

Given the circumstances, losing the watch was trivial. Glad you made it out of that situation with your health.

Agreed. Not sure why people feel compelled to post such rude statements. Why not just ignore original post?

OP--would you consider a two-tone Daytona as a replacement? They've really started to grow on me lately.

OMG...you weren't at the Cannes Lions were you (you said you were in advertising)? that's insane! in any case the most important thing is that you weren't hurt. A watch is just a thing, and things can be replaced. Your health and well being cannot.

Oof. Obviously not something anyone wants to go through. The major bright side is no significant physical harm done. Imagine crap like waking up with sutures and a missing kidney or something...

Damn, that sounds like something out of Taken the movie,

Main point is your safe, the watch you can always get back doesnt really matter, we only care about your own safety and health (i guess you might have gotten sore legs but lets just count that as leg day =D).

In regards to getting back the watch i mean like other say, its gonna have to be a grey dealer ! i would help you look from here in HOng Kong but prices are pretty steep =/

NEvertheless good to hear you're safe and sound !

Ouch! Sounds rough

But at least unharmed

At the end of the day it's just a watch

Drugging and kidnapping? These Euro criminals are bold.

It reads like a scene in a movie.

Glad that you're unharmed. That's all that matters after all.

That sounds like an awful experience. I don't have advice, but I hope you can replace your watch without trouble.

Is there a way that as a prior owner I could get one from an AD?
Or failing that, how am I going to get one now?

I have found a grey market one at 19,500 unworn, so i suppose i could top up the extra £7.5k and pretend i got a ceramic upgrade for the extra money?!!!
Sorry to hear this....i got robbed last time i went grey too

I don’t know if grey market is trusted or not, but seems to be the only option. The watch will have 3 years left on warranty, will that transfer to me if sold preowned? Etc etc.

I run an advertising agency in nyc and london, and obviously can’t go around asking my staff. I am lucky enough to be in a position to afford luxury’s watches. And I’m here to seek advise from people with a common interest. Thanks to everyone that’s helped. And to anyone calling BS on my post, thanks for nothing, hope you feel better for being a keyboard warrior to someone you’ve never met. Pretty cowardly!
It works both ways, you are here asking for our advice and at the same time, as you've seen with many replies here, you can share a bit of what happened to you as we are in the same boat and naturally want a heads up if there is a potential bad situation out there for us too.

Anyway, now you have it sounds like quite the ordeal and glad you made it out safe. As for the watch, I don't think many ADs would care in this market, even your original one, everyone has an angle nowadays, so grey is probably your best bet.
