The more people make nasty comments about this watch, the more secure I am in wanting one. I actually got to try on a 41mm version, I’m guessing most of the haters here have never seen one in person.
Rolex has a history of weird unusual dials and historically they become very desirable over time even if they didn’t fly off shelves when new. The Stella dial DayDates from the 70’s-80’s are now the most valuable of that era. The Daytona WG Beach series was kind of a flop when new, I remember them lingering in cases for several years, now hard to find and $$$. The discontinued yellow and coral red recent OPs are still commanding 3-4X MSRP.
It’s okay that everyone doesn’t want the same Rolex, I don’t want most of them honestly but I never denigrate other’s choices.
My red and green OPs have gotten way more comments and compliments than my Daytona and BLRO. Most people just comment how cool it looks and are then surprised it’s a Rolex, kind of an “anti-flex.” YMMV

I wouldn’t overpay for any watch. And I wouldn’t underpay for that watch.

You’re not overpaying if that’s how much it costs (for you).

The Celebration OP is hideous, the silver is almost as bad, boring as hell.

Saw one in person today. My prior comment stands, I wouldn’t pay retail for one. That is one goofy, silly watch.

Yes because the $10K that grey is costing you, you wont get the celebration by just spending $10K at your ad. Remember when the celebration comes in you still have to pay msrp for it. So you could spend 40-50$K at an ad to obtain celebration but it is not that price in the grey market. When you run the numbers and get behind the numbers, grey market is always cheapest in the end.

For example a black dial daytona is double msrp in the grey market. Are you really going to get a daytona black dial after spending $15K at an AD? No, grey market is a total discount.

I will not argue with another forum member because I respect heavily the enthusiasts, but what I say is true.

I would not overpay 10k for any watch.

I refuse to overpay. I don't need any of the watches Id like to have. They are already expensive to begin with so I don't want to pay extra at all.

That's a bit like saying that being shot 5 times in the head is awsome because it isn't 8 times.

Only if I could immediately flip it and earn a profit. To each his own, but that dial is the pinnacle of instagram hype imo.

This reference is not for me. I would not purchase even at msrp. I will pay over for a watch I really want though.

I guess I’m in the minority here but I dig it. Super fun watch. I’d definitely pay msrp for one.

Agreed. Think this one will go under retail eventually once the novelty wears off.

If you like the look fine.

As an investment , not so much. The design appeals to a small part of the Rolex community
