SD43 or Batman - help...

I have an SD43 and someone wants to trade me for a Batman Jubilee (wants $1,000 plus SD43). I really like the SD43 (though a little big on 6.75" wrist), but also really like the Batman (maybe prefer it). Feels a bit weird trading a watch that costs more than what I would get and also paying $1,000 for the privilege.... On other hand - if money wasn't an issue think I like the batman better... Any thoughts?

Personally I would just try to source a BLNR from an AD. You have a great watch to wear in the meantime, they have not discontinued the BLNR, eventually one will become available. If, at that time, you don't want two watches, sell the one you like least.

Agree with this. And like what you said it doesn't make sense to trade a more expensive watch plus cash for a less expensive watch unless it's one you've really wanted. Assuming you picked up your SD43 at retail, you should be able to get a BLNR down the road. Once the hype dies down I'm thinking it will become much easier to get.

What? That guy is taking advantage of you. If you like the gmt more, sell the SD43 and buy one from an AD. You wait a bit but you’ll get it. I would ask him to pay 3000$ for the swap not me paying him more.

This.
It is my personal opinion - I like the SD43 much more than the Batman and I would not so this trade.

Also if your SD43 has the MkI dial - that would be another reason to hold to it.

Numbers don’t lie, BLNR has higher mkt value and it’s also the watch I’d want.

I own both watches. I love my (Oyster) BLNR and cannot ever see myself parting with it, however it is a very commonly flipped watch and there’s a reason for that (besides crazy prices). It’s a very striking looking watch but some people tire of it after a while. If I were forced to choose between the SD43 and the BLNR - and I have the same wrist size as you - I would pick the SD43 every time.

This does also partly depends on what else is in your collection. As an only watch, again the SD43 wins for me with the brushed bracelet and superior clasp.

I’m in the same boat. Have an SD43.... thought about making a similar trade for the jubilee Batman.... decided I love them both. Will be patient and wait for my AD or for greys to come down to earth. In the meantime I have great watches to wear already. I can be patient.

If that was the deal I would keep the SD43 and just get the BLNR at retail with some wait. He should pay you cash for this trade, not the other way around.

It’s hard to choose which watch to keep... ones an every day watch and ones a dressier watch in my opinion. I got the Batman thinking I would sell the 43, and I currently have both lol

I would do it. Value wise its fine. Plus I have a similarly sized wrist, I think SD is a bit too big. Hence the reason I on submariner for my diver.

I would do it.

Focus on which watch makes you happier and don’t worry about the money. I traded my SD43 in and ended up with the BLRO and couldn’t be happier.

Two very different wearing watches, as I’m sure you know. If at all possible I’d try and add the BLNR rather than flip for it.

If the Batman owner wants your SD43 so bad, you are in the drivers seat and should be the one negotiating terms. Definitely wouldn’t give watch + cash for a watch your not dying to have. I just got an SD43 and probably won’t keep it, I have a JC DSSD already. Now I would bundle my SD43 + cash (or SD43 + AP Diver) if I can get into an AP I’m lusting over.

Exactly.
Trade should be based on actual price of items not the virtual one being bubbled for momentary demand.

If it is a 126710 BLNR I would go for it, 40mm size biggest plus for me between these two.

Have owned both and now only the new BLNR. Comfort of the 126710BLNR is in another zip code from the SD43. I found the Sf43 the most uncomfortable watch Rolex makes. FYI. I also own a DSSD JC. No way I wouldn’t trade for the new BLNR. It’s Rolex perfection in form and function.

Agreed

Do you need a dive watch or a GMT?

I’d go for the SD43. I’m not a huge fan of the BLNR. Now if the BLRO was on the table... different story
