Your SLA017 must be a lemon from the factory unfortunately! Sorry to hear that! However mine has much better accuracy even than all of my Rolex sport models including Submariner/GMTII/Sky-dweller! I love it!

Just returned to the States from Tokyo, and at one of the Haneda Airport watch boutiques they had the SLA033, aka SBDX031, available at a 10 precent discount and no tax. Final price was 405,000 Japanese yen, about $3700.
Very cool-looking watch. Just didn't love it quite enough to pull the trigger. I might end up regretting it, because from what I see online, it was a very good price. |

There are times when we've ALL been forced to say "I should have bought one when I had the chance... "
...then there are times when you can say "glad I pulled the trigger 2 seconds after it was introduced... "

I thought I'd throw these up in here - looks like I had mostly Seiko fans in 2019...

I don't think there are any more classic models for Seiko to re-invent, so the trilogy is a trilogy......

That's been said before... was it you that brought that up before?
Seiko got a real issue right now in my estimation... they produce way to many variants. I love a bunch of grand seiko and surely the sla017 and sla033... but I find it hard to continue to by more of the pieces for fear of brand dilution. |

So sure, Seiko will milk their diver line just as Omega does with the Speedmaster & Seamasters, but there will be no 50th re-creation in 2020, nor in 2021, etc.

I owned the SLA017 for a few months but found it too thick. I concluded the same thing about a number of Omega divers..

That's surprising, as I find the SLA017 quite moderate in terms of thickness. However, the SLA025 is another story altogether.

Damn all of you for the fantastic photos! You made me reach out to one of my preferred watches in my box, and slap it on my wrist... I have had it for 18 months, and it is so beautiful that I flipped all the other drivers I had. Even though it is not my daily (outside of vacations), I love it as much as when I took possession of it.
To be continued, a little sister is supposed to land in the mailbox next week |

Thanks!
The little sister has landed today. I am under the charm. I think I found my vacation watch As with the SLA017, I still think that the silicone strap is crappy, especially for this type of watch. I cannot wait to receive a little package from UncleSeiko to start playing with the different possibilities (I only bought a tropic strap for the old sister, and never had the need to seek another strap). So, without further ado, and without the talent that some of you here have shown here, I am presenting you my little, non-complete but fully satisfying, SLA family! (I tried the SLA025. Several times. But the height of the watch is too much for me) |

That's the perfect two watch Seiko deal right there. No need to go any further because those are the two best.
I want those same two for my collection, but that 017 price will eat into my Rolex budget. I went with a bespoke shark leather with a factory Seiko deployant for my zero three three. I suspect the zero one seven would nice on an u9scale band. |

Saw your 033 on the shark leather strap with the deployant (I think), and I liked it. But as for me these watches are meant to be worn during vacations and weekend, I think I will stick to tropics, chocolate bands and tire tracks straps. We'll see if that changes in the future, but my 017 has been alternating between the bracelet and the tropic for the past 2 years. |

There is one for sale in Europe at the moment, full set inc. original invoice.
German first delivery, so with that very special box : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXkopfhThmg 4500 euro, no affiliation, don't know the seller, its on a Dutch watch forum. https://www.horlogeforum.nl/t/tk-sei...pex-set/242300
