One of the coolest diamond adorned Rolex watches I've ever seen!!!! Keep it and wear as the mood strikes you!!! It's tough to inherit things and carry with them bitter sweetness. Hopefully it will be a while before you get it.

I sorta inherited a Rolex from the family of my best friend when he passed away. To be honest there are other Rolex models I like much more, however, if I ever sold it or traded it I don't think I would ever feel right about doing it. This is the watch your dad WANTED and I have the watch my best friend WANTED. It is a memory of THEM first and watch second. IMHO

April 2006 is the month and year the Day Date had its 50th anniversary.

Congrats with this remarkable piece!

If you don't feel confident in wearing it in public maybe get a really nice robe and slippers and use it as "at home" watch. :) You may end up liking it so much you take it out sometime.

Either way, worn or safely stored, it's a fantastic family heirloom to be able to carry on in your family.

If you don't like it, then sell it to someone who appreciates it. Take a high quality photo of it, print it and put that into your safe to keep the memory. No need to keep the actual watch.

I wouldn’t sell it until you are 80+, heirless or destitute. Yes I think it will be a worthy companion for certain occasions.

And in the years ahead you could find it will appeal to a deeper appreciation of diamonds.

But in the meantime I hope your Dad lives a long and healthy life - and you’ll not have to worry about this for a score or more years.

Certainly not for my taste, very blingy and not into diamonds only watches. If you want to keep it for sentimental reasons, keep it in the safe.

Its value and beauty is that it was your Dad's. I would wear it for the memories attached to it not because of how it looks. Keeping it in the safe is wasted.

I like it. It's got its own style and doesn't apologize for it. I think it takes some confidence to pull off a watch like that that maybe some people don't possess. Your dad does.

My father gave me a ring he wore that his father also wore when I graduated from college. Happily, the style suits me well, but even if it didn't, that it is a family piece that he enjoyed would obviate any thoughts of selling it and would go a long way towards me wearing it with some regularity.

In this case, I think you've got a very cool watch coming to you, and I hope you'll grow to love and enjoy it.

I'm not sure anyone is taking issue with anyone sharing their thoughts. They may just be offering counsel on the degree of candor used in doing so. It rarely hurts to soften honesty with kindness.

I’ve seen a similar legit model with a smaller, green enamel center in the dial, reference 118348. TRF member crowncollection would likely know for certain.

But imho, it matters little. It’s your father’s watch - I wish I had one. You hope that you don’t inherit it for many years. Whenever you do, I’ll bet you will treasure thinking of him every time you put it on, whether that’s every day, or once a year on his birthday, or something in between.

Why would you sell if it was passed down from your Dad. My boss passed down a day date to me and I would never sell it, if for some reason I didn’t want it no more I would give it back to his kids. Wear it and wear it will the pride he intents to show you by passing it down
