I go to Portugal in the Algarve nearly every year and haven’t had any issues, that said I would leave the DD as your SS pieces will fly under the radar if/when needed. However my pal got mugged for his iPhone coming out a club in Lisbon in the early hours of the am, so I would recommend take a cab when you can.

What’s the situ/risk in Florida?

I feel pretty safe wearing my watches around here. With that said, I'm not out in downtown Orlando at 3 am leaving the bar scene either.

Personally, I'd just bring the GMT, leave the DD at home.

Some pics of our '17 trip to Portugal:

Pointing w/ my old 14060M somewhere on the Algarve

Inside the Palácio da Bolsa, Porto

Beautiful tile work in our hotel shower- Douro Valley

Douro Valley(w/Sandeman on hill)

DD all day everyday.

Portugal isn’t (insert 3rd world country here)

Wear that thing. You KNOW it’s the most comfortable

I love Portugal, beautiful country and beautiful people.

I’ve been to Lisboa, the Algarve, Fatima and many points in between. I wore my SD43 and DBlue no worries, just common sense and awareness like anywhere else in the world.

Anway, looking forward to your thoughts, and of course the vacation!

Submariner. Just looks better with a fresh clean sparkle to it.

We come here often!

We stay at that Pousada (Pestana Citadela) , the Farol (lighthouse) or Fortaleza Guincho usually.
Also stayed at Viva Marinha (new name now) and Quinta da Marinha.

Not yet tried Oitavos or Villa Italia.... Going to recce this trip.

I had a 5980/1R on in Lisbon; sleeves down. Never came out to see daylight especially in crowded places.

You're insured for your daydate so you should be ok to walk around with that.
Yes.. That is a dangerous place to be in with any lxuury good. You mean near the statue with the bridge on opposite water right ???
They all try to sell you sand there and when you don't watch your bag it could be gone. Nephew of my wife is officer there and we met him in his lunch break right there

Made my decision! 1 rubber, 1 bracelet, 1 strap; 3 relatively under the radar watches.

Nice trio, my opinion would be to put on the GMT and leave the others at home.

Whichever one you want. But do yourself a favour and leave the American flag shirt at home.

Haha, that's definitely a sweater that stays in country only.

Gmt no brainer. Flys under the radar and you can see your hometime. Definitely a traveler's watch in every sense of the word

+1, I don't really understand the need to take more than one watch away but to each his own

WHy? Do you have any idea how many foreign flags I see flying in Orlando Fla on car mirrors and in front of businesses?

Because I like to wear my watches when on vacation! Isn't this a site for WIS'? I'd expect most people around here like to bring more than one watch on a trip.

Also, I like to change things up depending on the outfit I'm wearing.

As I said, to each his own. You can be a WIS without bringing your collection on every trip you take.

The safest place for a watch is your wrist and the ones back in the hotel would just make me anxious, no joy in that

Agree with you there. That's why all my watches are insured and the ones I do bring are insured for current value (thus no Hulk on this trip).

Lisbon

I’ve been to Lisbon 3 times in the last 18 months and every time I get asked do I want any drugs.
I wouldn’t wear a Rolex there as it’s well dodgy.
Leave the watches at home and use a sun dial.
