42mm Offshore with CE Bezel

Hey Guys, I went to the AP boutique on 57th Street today and tried on the new black 42mm ROO with the CE bezel. (It’s not for sale yet, just there to show off the 2018 novelties.)

The grey Ti version hadn’t arrived yet so I couldn’t try it on, but they said it’ll arrive Monday and be there for the week.

The 42mm size has always been perfect for me, but I always wished they came with ceramic bezels, so obviously I was quite chuffed this year when I saw these.

I’m happy to say that it is every bit as cool as I thought it would be. It’s crazy how just the addition of a ceramic bezel can make something so different.

Enough words. Picture time.

And just for fun, because I love the Ti 44 so much...

42mm with CE Bezel is way overdue. Very cool but am I seeing this correctly... No vertical brushing on the bezel?

Correct, it does not have the pronounced vertical brushing. I wish it did, but I'm not complaining.

Wow! Super cool. I might have to head in to check it out. What’d you think of the strap?

I agree, the addition of the ceramic bezel makes a big difference on the watch's aesthetics. I'm also really digging the black + red strap. Thanks for the pics!

Thanks for sharing and please share the gray one on Monday...

I don't know why they didn't made it with the vertical lines brushing of ceramic bezel as most of people prefer it to the rainfall one...

As I remember first series of RG and SS 44 came with rainfall brush and they change it to the vertical brush.... also Carbon Diver had the rainfall bezel and CE was introduced with the vertical lines one...

Maybe I’ll bump into you there, I’ll be there this afternoon to check out the titanium 42.

The strap was super pliable and comfortable. It feels more like the rubber on the titanium 44, not as stiff as the one on the Diver. It’s a little more shiny than the other AP rubber straps, but that didn’t bother me as much as I thought it would.

Glad to see these are already making their way to stores. I have a deposit down on the titanium one. Will you be going back next week to check out that one as well? I have yet to see any live pictures of it.

Awesome, looks like we were posting at the same time. Do you mind getting some pics of the back on the titanium one?

I think I prefer the new strap with the red accents, although personally I am not sure if I like the new bezel on the steel in that iteration.

Great stuff Dave. I think it looks fantastic, I actually like the SS bezels as I'm old school, but the ceramic has obvious benefits and moderns it up nicely, and with the new sexy strap, a la the red GP strap, I think it will do very well.

Look forward to the Grey Ghost pics and it possibly losing its second name if indeed it is real...

Update: The elusive Grey Ghost will not make an appearance after all. Just got a text from my guy at the boutique:

"Hey Dave, just spoke with marketing department and we will not have one of the 42mm titanium for trunk show preview."

So it looks like it will remain "The Ghost." I'm really starting to wonder if this thing actually exists.

Ahh I was shocked when you mentioned it was already arriving. I was told by the Las Vegas boutique that it would be May/June before the titanium arrives.

Are you more interested in the red or gray one Dave?

Yeah, yesterday they said it would be there, today they said it won't. I guess I'll wait a little longer to see it.

I'm not sure which I am more interested in. I need to see the gray one in person. They told me that the bezel is gray ceramic, not black, so I may find it to be a little washed out looking...or not.

Looking forward to seeing wrist shots of yours when it arrives!

Imho tue sub counter should have been made in contrast and not black.
Like this the dial plus the bezel looks a bit dull

Sweet, thanks for the info! I won't be able to make it in till next week. If these pieces aren't for sale I assume (hope) they'll still be there. I'll drop a line in this thread before I go, if you want to meet up

The strap looks really cool. If they ever make one of these with orange accents I'll be all over it for my CE Diver.

It could be a pre-production version.

Not for sale. It's a post-SIHH display thing.

I'll be there tomorrow around 2pm

I'm curious as to how you got that information at the LV Boutique - I was there yesterday and the manager, with whom I have worked with on several occasions, had ZERO knowledge if the new ceramic bezel Ti 42mm even was an existing or upcoming release.

He did tease with the statement: "AP will be releasing some new and different watches as the year goes by."

Was there today too and also really liked that model and the green diver. Havana is very cool too but would look better with a ceramic bezel.

All my info came from Julie the sales executive there. She made a couple phone calls after I inquired about the piece and was able to give me the exact retail price when they expect to arrive. She was not able to show me any pictures of the piece other than the stock photo on the website and didn't have any other info.
