About 5711 lumen variations
Hello all. It’s my first post here and I hope not to break any forum rules to start with.
I have a 5711 bought not that long ago that has some considerable lumen colour difference between the dial and the hands. I do like actually and have seen a few more examples that present this discrepancy but I would like to know why that happens. The watch was bought from a reputable watch dealer in Paris. It’s from 2011 and it was first sold also in Paris. Since then it had two Patek services (nothing major was replaced according with the reports made by Patek). I will leave you with a few pictures of the watch. Let me thank you in advance for all that read these lines and to those who can enlighten me regarding this subject |

My guess is that the hands or dial were replaced but not both

Thanks for your input. All services were Patek made (according to what I was told) and none refer any hands or dial replacement. I guess I will send it over to another Patek service and ask them what they think

Went to the boutique today and apparently the lume as well as the hands have never been changed. The watchmaker over there told me it’s perfectly normal due to different widths of the lumen layers… just wanted to update the thread for future reference

I would be quite surprised if the hands were not changed during one of its previous service. The colour discrepancy is too great for it to be natural. Send it back to Patek and ask them what they think. Generally the dial is exposed to sunlight as a whole so the hour markers and the hands should have approximately the same shade of lume. But if the boutique said it was not changed then i guess it can't be disputed....

I even have the report of both services the watch took in 2012 and 2015. Apart from general mouvement lubrification and a bezel polish in 2012 to sort of a small ding nothing else was done. It went for a service anyhow. If I have some more info I will update the thread but I would invite everyone else who has something to say to participate :)

Do they glow differently in the dark?

They do. Same colour but more intensely in the hands when compared with the indexes.
