Setting the time on AP - jumping minutes?

Question to all the AP owners.

I have watched a number of videos where a person is setting the time on their AP and see the minute hand jump forward by a few minutes when the crown is pushed back in (in particular the ROC 26315 38mm)

I know the second hand doesn’t hack on that particular watch but is this an issue with the movement or user error when pushing the crown in? Is there a method to avoid that?

It would be annoying to not be able to set the time correctly because of a jumping minute hand.

I assume time only watches don’t have this issue?

Would love to hear thoughts / experience from AP owners

Thanks!!

I find the ROC crown stem to feel very wobbly, especially compared to any Rolex. So indeed for ROC (to a lesser extent 15500 but def for 26315 or 26331) the minute hand can easily slip when pushing the crown back in.

I usually have to push it in more lightly to not move the time, and more carefully right in top on the crown. Maybe use Robin level strength and not Batman level?

It happend on both my cal. 3120 watches. It doesn't even bother me. It was strange at first coming from rolex models but now it's a non issue.

I always found that turning the crown to set the time, then backing it off very slightly, helped stop the problem.

As per above on the 3120 Caliber - just over set then wind back 5 minutes and the phenomenon is greatly reduced.

+1. Same experience with my 3120. It’s minimal if you do this and push the crown in carefully.

Same, I set it to the desired time, then release (not to the extent that the hands are moving back) and push crown in, the hands won't move.

Go past the time. Move back to desired time. Push in. Won’t move.

It’s happened on all 9 of my 3120 based APs. Just wind the crown a couple times to get it going, set the time and turn the crown back a half turn to relive the pressure on the crown and push in. Finish winding and you’re good to go. I’ve found if you fully wind the crown its under pressure and the minute hand will jump. Not fully winding before setting and a little half back turn of the crown and has never been an issue.

Happens on my 3120s and 1185… I am pretty sure it builds some sort of pressure in the movement and pushing the crown in releases it resulting in the minute hand jump. As stated by others, just go past the desired time and reset backwards — it’ll alleviate the issue.
