AP MACRO Photo Thread (Very Pic Heavy)

I know there are at least a few of us here who like Macro photography, inspired by an earlier thread which moved onto movement finishing. I thought it might be fun to cluster some Macro pics in one place together with a focus on AP.

So armed with my trusty lens, I took a closer look:

Firstly the case and buckle:

The movement:

This last one I took through a magnifier stacked with the macro lens. I think that must be where the dust flecks came from.

The dial:

Never noticed it’s a textured date wheel dial before.

And just because !

Great pics they are as well!

I’ve never really been into photography but wanted to take pictures of my watches so just started playing around, currently just using an iPhone X, Marco lense and an iPhone tripod. Really need a light box or something to help with lighting.

Very revealing pics, we should use them in reply to the usual what's the difference between AP and Rolex threads.

Amazing how many finishes are on the watch, and all the many different optics it produces through the day with different lighting, surroundings etc..makes the watch more than just an object, as it becomes a reflection of its surroundings too.

Got some down time tomorrow so I’ll set the kit up and get some more shots!

I’m trying to do a time lapse of the main spring unwinding but proving hard work!

Not really a macro but another pic I like

So nice. I’d love to play with it one day, it looks like you can see everything moving around when you’re moving the crown, so interesting seeing how everything is connected!
After seeing all your photos it almost feels like my watch doesn’t actually have an exhibition back.

I love as you wind it watching the mainspring wind up!

Might see if I can do slow motion or time lapse of certain parts tomorrow, gives me something to aim for

I’d love to see that!! I’m also very interested in seeing the gears/levers doing its work when you pull/push the crown in/out, but idk if that’s very visible…

You can see the lever engage/disengage when you pull/push the crown. Although it seems like a simple task, I love seeing it happen. Hasn’t gotten old watching it.
