Pulled the trigger - aquanaut

As I mentioned in a previous post, I was on the hunt for a 5165. Turns out it’s not a very easy watch to find. Long story short, after searching and searching I found one and pulled the trigger earlier this week.

I have always like the casualness of the aquanaut line but felt that the 5164 and 5167 were just too big for my small wrist. The integrated rubber strap makes it wear bigger that the older aquanauts in my opinion. Obligatory wrist shot below.

I have done a lot of rebalancing of my collection over the last several months but feel it’s at a really good place now. I think the 5165 will complement his brother the 5712 very well.

Congrats!

Question; you thought the 5167/5164 would be too big but you have a 5712? I have the 5164 and 5711 and feel they wear quite similar.

My 5712 and 5164 do wear quite similar, although the 5164 has a bit more heft due to being thicker:

I suspect the 5167 would wear a bit smaller than the 5164 as it is thinner and doesn't have the pushers / ears on the left side.

While the case size wore similar, where I felt the 64/67 wore bigger is due to the integrated rubber strap. Rather than curving down right off the lugs the strap angles out before curving, making the actual fit of the watch a bit bigger in my opinion. This is only really an issue for people with small wrists that are right on the cusp like me. Lug to lug the 5712 and 5167/5164 are similar it’s just that with the 5712 the bracelet curves around the wrist differently I think.

Congratulations on your persistence. I know you've been looking for this 5165 for a while and it's a difficult watch to locate.

Thanks guys. Super excited about this one. Love how versatile it is. And thanks to those that pointed me in the direction of the one I ultimately bought.

Anybody have tips for posting photos using tapatalk on an iPhone X? The keyboard keeps popping up so I can’t hit the photos button at the bottom.

Nevermind. It’s a known problem with the iPhone XS Max.

Thought I would post a couple pics with some of the 5165s brothers. A few days in and I just love how versatile the watch is. And I cant get over how light it is.

It was a good choice for you to go with the smaller aqua. The 5712 and Daytona wear large for you but looks ok..

I am jealous in a way; 36mm references would look great on you. You could wear a 3800 or 5800 nicely too
