116610 ln or blnr

My question is to gentlemen who owns black sub date and BLNR. I recently bought black sub date, and it is beautiful. I am thinking to pull BLNR into my collection but other day I saw one guy wearing BLNR, and I dont see much difference from black sub date. Ofcourse, its polished bracelet and blue bezel is elegant. I want something different taste on my wrist (like Pepsi), but pepsi has a long waiting list. I may be wrong, gentlemen who owns both time pieces should have more experiences and views on this one, pls hare your advise. Thank you.

Well there's a lot of difference, at least to a watch person. Enough to appreciate the fine details between a Sub and GMT.

24 click bidirectional bicolored bezel, and the stylized wide font pretty much makes the watch.
The GMT movement, including the quickset hour, is pretty handy. even if you don't travel you probably know someone that is so it's easy to keep track of what time it is for them by using the bezel. I had to do that for a week while I was working with a designer in India for work.
The case thickness difference
The PCL's and easy link clasp (which is no comparison to the glidelock, but different nonetheless)

But yeah I see what you're saying, from an everyday man's point of view they look very similar.

The BLNR has more visual presence and is less common that a Sub. I personally prefer the Sub (despite having a BLNR!) but the BLNR does look a little more special.

I am fortunate enough to have both and its really a toss-up for me. They wear the same, but have different wrist presence. Definitely the BLNR for something with a little more pizzaz (large numbers on the bezel, blue contrast). Also, the PCLs and the splash of blue make the BLNR "dressier" than the sub.

My personal opinion, again, is that while they are indeed similar, they are at the same time very different. I guarantee that if I only had one, I would want the other.

As for the pepsi, I am probably in the minority but I don't care for the red/blue combination. The bracelet I like, but not so much with the color combo.

I bought a sub no date and am thinking about picking up a BLNR as well. On the waitlist at a few AD's but if I can't source one in a reasonable amount of time I will probably just pick one up from a TS

I suppose I’ll post in every BLNR thread, that I had one, didn’t like it. I do have a SubC, Hulk , LN GMT and others. The SubC gets the most wrist time by far. For GMT, the LN is the winner unless you are going PM.

I think it's different enough to have both. I have a SubC and will ad a Blnr or Ln soon. Of course the Ln looks closer but hey, you only wear one at a time.

When I bought my BLNR 3 years ago, I had my choice of the two. I chose the BLNR because I thought it was more comfortable and I liked the look of it with the blue. I don’t regret that choice. I have no urge to buy a SubC. If you wanted both I can see them being different enough to have together.

I would rather have the BLNR. Sub is obviously great, but the BLNR is more “special” if you will. Plus it looks killer.

As a combo I actually love the BLNR and 114060 ND.
I’m wearing these 2 on different days just now and really loving them both.

Black sub is an iconic piece. That's what Rolex is, the famous black sub. I prefer the batman. Tons of wrist presence. I'm also a fan of the hulk to compliment it. I see a lot of black subs in the wild. Honestly 3-4 hulks and 4-5 batmans. The black sub is a dime a dozen.

Since you have the black faced sub, perhaps look at a blue or white faced skydweller?

If you like the Sub, but also want something different, why not a LVc?

You got a sub already. If you want a GMT get the BLRO instead of the BLNR otherwise an Explorer II is also a nice GMT option.

Prices for the BLRO have dropped significantly from their peaks. You might be able to get a good deal on one.

I'd stick with the Sub though generally prefer a GMT, but not the BLNR

I have the 114060 Sub and BLNR.

They are quite similar in fairness. My preference would be the BLNR. They can certainly Co-exist but are indeed similar.

I love both but prefer the Sub. As to your question, yes I can see why you think they are similar. Rolex make other watches that are completely different though. If you want to broaden the style of watch in your collection why not look at a different style of watch?

This made me laugh. The Sub design is arguably one of if not the most copied design in terms of watches. Ubiquitous I’d accept, I’m struggling with “boring” though.

To me the Sub has more wrist presence than the BLNR. With reference to your question and as already pointed out, there are big differences in terms of design and function. If you can’t appreciate the difference I suggest a bit more research. There’s no point in getting the LN or BLNR if you can’t see the differences yourself.
