im a seller of all my vintage pieces 20-30% higher than where they were yesterday if anyone has interest.

Hans Wilsdorf, the founder of Rolex, was not just a visionary entrepreneur whose stream of inventions, such as the first waterproof wristwatch, changed the world
My hatred for this website just grew even more. Not only is this site not informative, it's actually intentionally mis-informative. Acting like Wilsdorf was an inventor? Rather than the apt businessman and patent-licenser he was? Why make a big deal about your "history" if you're not even going to tell the REAL HISTORY?? Argh. Marketing fluff anti-truth

Hate is pretty strong. Hans Wilsdorf himself was not personally the "inventor", sure. Much like Steve Jobs didn't invent and create of his personal hands the Mac computers or iPhone.
If Rolex were such blatant liars that don't tell the real history as every single person believes, because there is a counter view point for every Rolex success, I'm sure they would have been taken to court for blasphemy and they would not be the dominant brand they are today. A company built on falsehoods wouldn't be as successful.
Imo these type of men were idealist and visionaries who forged a path into new ground. Steve Jobs' hands didn't create or outright invent anything but his mind did by influencing and gathering the components whether design or hardware, to provide a product that made an impact.
The iPhone wasn't the first cell phone or smart phone, but no other phone before it was even remotely on the same level as the standard of that definition. Rolex has a lot of firsts, that cannot be denied.

Their success and the strength of their companies even in their deaths is evidence of their genius.

Exactly. His real genius was his business acumen. The real story of Hans Wilsdorf is fascinating, but I guess that's not interesting enough for Rolex. Their half-truths are insulting to real Rolex history fans and, frankly, to Wilsdorf himself.

And what's up with this nonsense:

Perpetual. For nearly a century, the word has been written on every Rolex Oyster watch.
That's just false. Somebody didn't tell the marketing guys they made the 6694 until like...30 years ago. This whole website is stuff that "sounds good" but "isn't quite true." I stand by my assessment of full-on hate.

Not sure what Rolex is trying to do with rolex.org.

Rolex should just hire James Dowling, Sheldon Smith, Guido Mondani, John Goldberger, Jake Ehrlich, many folks here, etc... to author meaningful content.

meaningful content = watch history

Yeah,. that's pretty slack about the Perpetual on the dial, plus the usual Mercedes Gleitze thing, papering over her failure on the Rolex-wearing second swim. At least they're not still claiming to have invented the self-winding watch
